I agree with some of the above comments that's he's somewhat out of touch, and at the very least some of his tactical choices just wasn't suited to the PL, and he didn't adjust to specific scenarios/problems. I haven't followed his "tactical development" with Zenit, so I don't know where he's at now. But he's proven to be a smart enough football guy by getting this far at such a young age to develop his tactics further. If he's not stubborn, he's still got every chance to become a great manager, also in the PL, imho.
A lot of correct things have been said about AVB's style of play, and in large parts I agree that it was mindnumbingly boring. However I've always felt, he was up against it, by coming here from Chelsea. With an arrogant attitude no less. So, however to a large extent correct, I personally feel some of the judgements on his style put forward here, are somewhat over the top.
