Lennon is a breath of fresh air, We love him because he doesn't listen

unproved of course, but the general concensus is that Martinez doesn't want his fron 4 to run if the ball isn't within 10 yards. Lennon presses and runs all over the place and it is infectious, grabbed a couple goals from it. shame he hasnt got the wow factor like Deulofeu has though.
I love Lennon for that, he gives his all and does look like a liberated player in the games i've seen him feature. He even started scoring ...

AVB liked controlled possession, slow, slow fast type of attack, shifting the defense from side to side in order to create an opening. When we were allowed the ball we controlled the game and usually won by the odd goal. The problem came when A. We couldn't break teams down, and B. Where we couldnt control possession and got humped.

Spurs fans were never going to like that kind of methodical approach, they want flair and pace.

Hey Guys,

Everton fan in peace. If mods feel this is better placed elsewhere then feel free to remove and move.

First of all, Well done this season. I personally wanted you to win the title and thought you were more then value for that. You just came unstuck where leicester are getting that infamous Man U luck. (I know it is still possible and I hope we do you a favour week Sat, but fact is we are not very good)

I have come on to this forum to ask your opinion on a previous manager.

It is being rumoured that AVB is on a shortlist to replace Martinez if he is to go.

Can you please let me know your thoughts on him. and whether he will suit our players? his style? his approach to young players? his transfer market dealings (touchy subject, i know)

Thanks lads, ill be happy to answer any Q on EFC related if you have any

Wasn't my favourite, at Spurs we love attacking football, we are not Chelsea and his style can be very conservative.

He is a very strict in terms of style and in that respect everything about him was a complete contrast to Redknapp who was an anything goes type manager.

So fans will really love him and some hate, he is a marmite person, the only thing that makes him similar to Redknapp.

As a Spurs fan it is a bit odd to look at you guys right now. I think you have a on paper a top first 11 but it seems not to work, I dont know if that's the manager or what?

Personally I would be disappointed with AVB as the pick, other will disagree. If we lost Poch I would love us to go straight for Warburton at Rangers, he is a Spurs fan but even if he was a West Ham I would go for him. High press, organised, attacking with places importance on fitness, Rangers fan will kill me for staying steal him. His style is not just similar to Poch on the eye even our loanee Dominic Ball has mentioned it.

I think it's safe to say that if you're not impressed by the football under Martinez, you'll be completely underwhelmed by what AVB dishes up.

If you like hearing the word 'immense' then he's your man.

If, at any stage, he decides to comment on a rivals 'downward spiral' or 'negative spiral' then be prepared for crushing disappointment.

That aside, he seems likeable but so does Martinez. Seems to me Everton need someone with a touch more ruthlessness.

Maybe their tactics with our side? but i do not know if he has the mean streak to cut some players out

But that makes it sound like you're looking for a quick fix rather than looking to the future . He'd come in ,look at the situation over the summer & ship players out accordingly.

Anyways , I'd see him as a way better option than AvB.

The most boring football I have EVER watched. The fans just sat in silence as the ball was passed from one side of the pitch to the other. Also suggest you take a look at what Zenit fans think of him even after winning the league.

He will be under pressure by the British hacks before you even kick a ball, this pressure will increase with every game (even if you are winning). I always felt sorry for the guy in this respect, he was very poorly treated/bullied.

On the plus side he will have your team organised, his first year with us I still see as a positive one, I used to turn up at The Lane and no longer be nervous what team will show up, by the last quarter of the season it is fair to say I was a confident supporter. I expected us to kick on the following year, in short we didn't. When the pressure mounted for him to make us more entertaining, we got absolutely battered. You don't have to be a body language expert to see the difference of players who played under AVB and are now playing under Poch, they all now have smiles on their faces and are enjoying their football. As too are the fans. He also doesn't have a track record for playing the youth and or developing players despite trying to claim responsibility for Bale's rise.

When you had Moyes as your manager playing you lot I'd guess 80% of us would have taken a point before the game and going to Goodison was always a massive challenge, as fans you enjoyed watching your players give everything and as fans you always responded and made some noise. Martinez appears to have killed off your voice, AVB will take that to a whole new level. I no longer fear playing Everton.

Biesla is exciting, purely because, as you well know, Poch and Pep are disciples of his if you will. However they adapt his ideas and make them practical. His agent said he is 90% sure he will be in prem football next year and has had english lessons for 4 months.

Problem being is he is linked to Watford and Swansea....is he really that low a level?
Poch was 'low level' when he was hired, Koeman was off the radar too. Everton have rarely had a big name, if at all, in charge. Moyes obviously did well, but now you've got loads of cash maybe a higher profile is what is expected?

fuck rangers fans

I believe some (many?) of us were hoping that he would become the manager that Pochettino is now (young, strong ideas, intense, a likeable front) but apparent man management issues and possibly some tactical naïveté eventually proved otherwise.

We're fortunate to have gotten Pochettino but a part of me is sad it didn't work out with AVB.

This!

I agree with some of the above comments that's he's somewhat out of touch, and at the very least some of his tactical choices just wasn't suited to the PL, and he didn't adjust to specific scenarios/problems. I haven't followed his "tactical development" with Zenit, so I don't know where he's at now. But he's proven to be a smart enough football guy by getting this far at such a young age to develop his tactics further. If he's not stubborn, he's still got every chance to become a great manager, also in the PL, imho.

A lot of correct things have been said about AVB's style of play, and in large parts I agree that it was mindnumbingly boring. However I've always felt, he was up against it, by coming here from Chelsea. With an arrogant attitude no less. So, however to a large extent correct, I personally feel some of the judgements on his style put forward here, are somewhat over the top.

He made me hate watching Tottenham play football and I can't forgive him for that. I've never felt more disconnected with the club.
