It‘s nothing new with England under Southgate. We score, then retreat into passive pile of poo. Euro 2021 final, early lead for England, we stop being proactive, Italy dominate the rest of the game with a manager who makes positive player and tactical changes to take control of the game. Same with the Croatian semi in 2018.

This nonsense that he doesn’t have time to coach a comprehensive tactical system in an international window is the biggest load of bullshit going. He been head coach for 8 years and is on his 4 major tournament. His job isn’t to coach the players per se but put in a tactical framework for making the best of your resources. A half decent coach can do this relatively quickly. It’s not like you sack off an entire squad after every tournament, there’s a certain level of continuity that allows you to adjust and tweak the system/style as the squad evolves and new players with different skillsets come through.

Wanna go low block? Yuck but fine, train and set the team up so they know what do in all given situations that come from playing this way.

Xabi Alonso, Conte to us, Oliver Glasner, three recents coaches who joined a club midseason and very quickly put in systems to make the most of what they had. Even Harry Effing Redknapp could do it!

I’m sure Southgate is a lovely dude but clearly isn’t up to it and hasn’t ever remotely showed he’s a capable manager.

Level of improvement required from first two games is crazy. We're not talking small adjustments or tactical changes, the basics are all failing. Teams can start a tournament slow and win but not like this unless they get insane luck.

Southgate is a sit and lump it manager, pub level tactics.

It worked because Maguire is a world class defender in a low block, Philips never stops running and Rashford and Sterling are amazing counter attack players

He now has a team of ballers, Eze, Palmer, Foden and this requires a possession attacking system and he has zero idea what that is, look at Englands press, Foden presses but other don’t and as Rangnick said you either press or your don’t you can’t press a bit.

To be fair to Southgate, with 2 defensive minded midfielders we do control the game a lot better with more important turnovers, leading to more dangerous attacks. Also have more options to play our way out as Trent never seems to be available.

The Danes are a pretty good side. There was just no urgency, which I would blame in part to how easy it is to progress from the group. It was like a friendly and towards the end the players looked very content to just see out the draw and move on.

That's fair enough in terms of the competition, it just doesn't give fans much confidence for tougher games..

Honestly I think Southgate wanted us to push on and win more than the players themselves wanted it, but whilst he has instilled a good group mentality in the squad, he has also instilled this drop deep mindset.

Foden was our best attacking player but still nowhere near the level he's capable of. Needs to start the next game where Bellingham is playing. Either drop Bellingham further back, replacing TAA, or bench him and give him a proper rest. He looked like he was running through treacle at times today.

But I said all along that if we were as like in the other games then I would start to worry and questions can certainly be asked. I wasn't impressed in the opener but I at least saw a good performance for 30 minutes and then a good defensive performance for the remainder Today I saw absolutely nothing. I thought we would edge it, never expect us to win 3 or 4 nil as Denmark are no mugs. But the team selection, the subs, the pitch, the lack of intensity and lack of composite was extremely alarming.

That said, I still think we'll win the last game and finish 7 points from 9 which in itself is no disaster.

So far we are the most boring team in the whole tournament.
Yet again.
Nothing changes for the better.it just gets worse.
