The problem with Southgate is he doesn’t have the courage of his convictions. He obviously has one game plan, which is the double pivot, but he dare not drop Foden.

He should play Rice/Wharton with Bellingham as the 8 and Saka and Gordon running off Kane. There’s absolutely fuck all pace up front. We probably needed to take Rashford. He’s in terrible form but he could run off Kane.

I tend to agree with a point Deuterz Deuterz made ages ago. Rashford and Sterling clearly aren’t as good as Foden or Palmer but they fit the low block chase ball dinosaur way of playing. If Southgate can’t use Foden or Palmer type level players but needs Philips, Rashford and Sterling to play his football he should just do it but this isn’t really acceptable.

Just think if Spurs got rid of Bellingham, Foden and Palmer for Philips Sterling and Rashford. The meltdown on this forum would be epic, any manager that needs this is clearly poor.
 
I see the apologists in the media are once again trotting out the 'England players are exhausted after a long hard season' excuse as a reason why we're so shite.

Yes....... I'm sure none of the opposition players had hard tiring seasons.

We must be the only national team that wheels that excuse out year after year.

Southgate is the core of the problem, it just drives me nuts that the players take all of the blame for such poor tactics, yes they could do better but if you handicap them from the start it doesn’t help.

Yep, the team has been set up so poorly, it's not even a case of us being bad in this tournament we have been poor in the lead up to it. Losing 1-0 to Iceland is just embarrassing.

You can tell there are cracks within the team, yesterday the players were all arguing, getting frustrated, hands on hips etc etc. The comments by Kane after the match are not good either, basically saying they don't have a fucking clue what they are supposed to be doing.

It's a shame that this has happened, especially in an international tournament.

Yep Kane saying the team doesn’t know what it is supposed to be doing and Southgate wishing for Kalvin Philips when he has Rice, Mainoo and Wharton is mental, truly mental.
 
Its Criminal how shite we have looked and Gordon and Palmer havn't even had a fucking minute on the pitch!
How do they all look so fucking tired as well? Congrats Southgate, it can't be easy making this group of players look so poor!

It is how he played when I went to the Brazil friendly. Out of possession he was a liability. Very lazy.

However, I should have caveated my post about him with saying something about Southgate. It’s becoming obvious he can’t play him and Foden together as they occupy the same space. He needs to drop one of them along with TAA and bring Wharton into the team as at least he knows how to keep hold of the ball.

I have really enjoyed this tournament so far for the most part, lots of free flowing attacking football and goals from outside the box, then you have the England Games, easily the most boring 2 games so far have been ours!

Sometimes I wonder what I have done in a past life to be an English Spurs fan! :ange-hands-head:

I describe him as a 'moments' player which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I struggle to actually work out what his main job is i.e box to box, playmaker etc.

Maybe I need to watch more of his club career to understand him more but for England he can be non existent in some games, but then will pop us with a goal.
 
We all just know the next game will be the same starting 11, give it till 60 minutes Gallagher will come on for Trent!
What we need to be doing is giving players like Wharton a chance, or get rid of Southgate now and see if Poch or Klopp wants to take over for the next game just till the end of the tournament

Specially from Shearer who was a flop for England. Captained a team full of talented players that went out in the group stage at the Euros and lost in the second round at the World Cup.
