ENIC In or ENIC Out

I think we are a big club though. 60,000 fans week in week out despite no longer winning anything. and our illustrious history pre ENIC would suggest so.

In fact it's our size and incredible fanbase that have allowed these parasites to feed off us to pursue their other non football related aims since the turn of the century.

It's now reached the point though where other clubs who were previously our peers or inferior no longer take us seriously as a big club.
Newcastle have gone almost 60 years without a trophy and have been in the 2nd tier numerous times over the decades. Yet they sell out most weeks.

Spam just won their first tin pot in 43 years and sell out 60k seats a week,

Bums on seats doesn't make us a big club.
And tbh, based on what I've seen, I very, very much doubt our fans would fill the stadium if we have anything like some of the shit those 2 have had for the last 40-60 years.

Yes I should rephrase that, we have a big following and big turnover, but we don't act like a big club.
The club is happy just, to take premier league revenue, there has never been any ambition shown by levy and co.

What makes a big club?

Revenue? We're the ninth richest in the world.
Trophies? We were the joint 4th most successful in England pre-ENIC
Fan base? Ours dwarfs the two clubs you mention worldwide
History? First club to win the double post WWI, First English club to win a major European trophy.
Attendance: Second or third highest average in Britain. Highest ever home league match crowd.
Transfer fees? We used to hold the British record
Match day revenue? We nail down first place

Thi isn't a dig at your post. I'm just interested to know your criteria. Because to me we seem to fill every criteria possible, apart from trophies won in the last couple of decades. Which is kind of the point I was making.

American style "franchise" sport is shit. Same teams competing every season.

Fucking boring, we don't want it here. Get it through your head.

And the minute the Super league comes in is when I stop watching Spurs and go and watch my local team.

Fucking yanks and their cultural imperialism
"Same teams competing every season"

:dembelelol:

US professional sports shit all over European soccer for parity. 5 clubs have won all but 2 PL titles since 2000 (and 2 clubs, from the same city no less, have won 15/23). You act as if swapping out the bottom of the division every year and mixing up who finishes 14th-20th creates some incredible intrigue and interest - it doesn't. Meanwhile, the same cheating monied interests dominate the sport year in and year out.

They do love Americanising things. See something which works and is popular and have to try and fuck it up.

Meanwhile nobody outside your country cares about your dead sports leagues so give it a rest.

Behaviour.
Current Success.
Fanbase.
Ambition.

We were the 4th most successful club 23 years ago.
We have been/will be caught up by both City and Chelsea. Give it another 20 years of this shit and Newcastle too.

We can't live in the past. We are the very definition of mediocre despite income. That income will dry up in no time when everyone realises we're not doing anything or winning anything, just making up the numbers.
If we went down, I wouldn't expect more than 30k a week for the best games, let alone the worst. They'd have to quarter ticket prices to get people to think about going.

I guess we just have different definitions then mate.

I agree our owners suck on ambition, I agree they behave like a pair of opportunist spivs, and nobody could argue that on current success we fail miserably.

But in my honest opinion, we are a huge club being held back by the shackles of ENIC

West Ham give half their tickets away so that’s not exactly true.

Feel free to join Kumb though

There has to come a point where a big club goes so long without any sort of success that they have to stop being regarded as a big club.
If we're big, so are Forrest and Leeds.

You could say we are a sleeping giant, but under ENIC it's more like we're in a coma.

Tell that to Luton.

Chucked out the leagues altogether however many years ago, they worked their way back up through hard work and now made it to the PL. I watched their qualifying game. More soul and glory in it than anything I've seen up the top end of the PL.

There's a lot more to football in England than us so-called big 6 teams.

Absolutely- held back
Don't see any other owners holding back there football teams.

American-style anticompetitive closed shops are a dreadful product in a way that gets exposed more and more by the year.

And all the rhetoric about parity and competitive balance is a canard, the system exists to serve the financial interests of the capital holders as against their cities, their labor and their fans. That's why it is attractive to the owners of European football clubs.

Fight it with everything you've got.
