I wonder how someone can compare us playing in South Africa with absolutely no affiliation or ties with them as opposed to a potential owner who we have 100% affiliation and ties with?

Playing in South Africa when they were under an international sporting boycott would've been just as controversial, possibly even more so.

Playing friendly matches isn't the same as being owned by a murderous regime.
TBH I'm not actually against a takeover like this, I'm totally indifferent to it now, just like I wasn't against the World Cup but it's funny how fans are happy to justify being owned by actual murders just to win some trophies.
Seems wild to say this but I wonder if an actual convicted pedo/murderer announced he was taking over the club how these people would react, seeing as it seems like people are on the whole 'if we can't beat them. join them' vibe...I remember when there was massive uproar when the Gattuso report came out and all the fans went nuts, how comes folk aren't willing to accept him yet they want a regime who openly kill people to own, seems bizarre to me.
Seems like the moral compass shifts accordingly depending on who it is and more pertinently who potential new owner is buying ot from.

I could easily say that I'd feel pretty disgusted and stop supporting the club but as a loyal fan for almost 30 years let's be real there's gonna come a time where I'm gonna get pulled back in. let's be real - it's human nature.
I watched the WC and enjoyed it knowing about Qatar's past justifying it with all sorts of mental gymnastics but my justification was that I enjoyed it because football for me is escapism from real life which is what it's meant to be so I ignored all the politics surrounding it. That was 4 weeks though so I could easily stomach it, a lifetime of controversy though...

I think in reality we would all love to be owned by an incredibly wealthy philanthropist, good guy . I doubt such a person exists . Say you are worth 5 billion , would you get any richer ? Surely you just do good works with every cent above that. Not sure why I picked the random 5B number to be honest . We missed a trick BIG time back then (and Everton, to be fair) US, Arse, Man Utd, Liverpool & Everton were the 'Big 5' Arse, Man U and Liverpool sort of spent the 90's doing well (in Utd's case, it WAS the late 99s to be fair) whilst us and Everton spent the decade flirting with disaster and Cup semi-finals in equal measure!
