No need to invest from their own pockets. What happens to the money from gate receipts, TV money, CL , numerous lucrative events at the stadium etc etc ? It should only need to come from their own pockets if they can’t account for what happened to it.
we shouldn’t need to fund player acquisitions only by player sales .
We invested net less than 100m this summer and that’s even including the payments for Porro and Kulu which I’m sure were already included in our player acquisitions for 2022-23 and 2021-22 respectively.

Which is my point, we shouldn't need owners to invest their own money, we make enough to spend adequately.

Good for them

How much money are those non league teams making which goes back into the club?

This is such a dumb argument you know that right?
anyway, I don’t want to see them making a personal cash donation. After 23 years of careful, frugal management we need a more material, one-off injection - they need to sell a minority stake to improve the FC and grow the revenue

Imagine practically praying we lost yesterday so you could come into this thread and blame Levy/ENIC for it.

Bunch of idiots.

Anyone with a brain knew that losing Micky, Romero or Madders was going to cause a massive problem. That we lost all three together is absolutely typical.

I'm no Levy apologist, but the signings we've made have improved us. We just didn't have the money or time yet to fix ALL the issues.

It's not Levy's fault that all three - with the other injuries and suspensions - have all happened at the same time.

We aren't City or Chelsea. We can't support multiple first team players on the bench or reserves waiting in case we have injuries.

We are at phase one of this project. Phase one. Everyone needs to get a grip.

It was wank in Poch's first period, with substandard players. Don't forget.

Over the last few years my opinion of Levy and ENIC has waned. I used to be very supportive of the regime, but not at all after last season.

This season, however, hasn’t made me feel worse about ENIC/Levy. I do see some positive direction since we sacked that fraud of a wig wearing manager.

I do think a second centre half should have been purchased though… maybe that’s Phillips… who knows? Maybe there is the re-emergence of our long-term strategy… a shame the Mourinho, Nuno and Conte debacle happened though.

By all accounts we tried to get Lloyd Kelly over the line and it wasn't able to get done.

Losing Sanchez (I know) and not getting a suitable replacement is the only real bad decision this summer. Sanchez was more suited to this current dilemma we have than Dier.

Although we are one of the top 10 wealthiest clubs in Europe. We are the most profitable football club on the planet. We did bank £100 million for our best player and didn't reinvest it. And we did start yesterday's game with a defence containing Dier and Davies.

All about perspectives, I guess 🫤

You are quite possibly correct, I don’t follow footballers much outside of Tottenham’s squad… what does surprise me is how many poor defenders we seem to have either procured or produced.

VdV and Udogie are a welcome relief, tbh.

I broadly agree with this, except for the backup CB position.

Levy in or out, it was such a glaring gap in our squad at the beginning of the season and if you read the transfer window post-mortem, most were in agreement the lack of quality backup to Cuti and VDV really brought down the overall grading of the window.

Madders injury and a lack of quality backup for Udogie I can accept as part of the new process (for now).

The lack of an even average backup CB was criminal TBH and chickens are coming home to roost.

I think everyone here would be feeling more comfortable about the next couple of months if we had a quality CB partner for Romero.

Yeah I addressed that in a subsequent post - it's the only bad decision we've made. Made worse by letting Sanchez go, who although a liability etc was better suited to this situation than Dier.

All three of Davies, Dier and Royal are triers. But they weren't good enough in 2021, and they aren't good enough now. But it takes time to manage and move everyone on. Especially if they don't want to go 🤣

The world knows they are shit. Who's deliberately buying shit players? Other than us, obviously. 🤣
