I know this is probably an unreasonable take but it really irks me that every big deal Spurs are interested in gets reported as “difficult to do”. It’s always the same so has to be club PR. Also, always feels like they drag them out so we are happy when they finally come off and don’t start demanding more.

To answer your question and not spam up the transfer thread I highly doubt Levy is pulling the wool over anyone's eyes.
We all know what he is and how he operates.
yes yes we all know technically the club can afford a player like Isak , yes we all know Tottenham is one of the richest sporting clubs in the world and pull in some serious profits and we could wrap up a 60 million Eze comfortably without worrying about FFP
But we also know Levy has a particular belief system in how the club should and will be run, and he may say as a counter that the only reason the club is one of the richest in the world is because of the way he's run it for the last couple decades. most don't like it, we're not blind to it, but that's just how it is and they are not going anywhere because there's still so much gold to be mined out of Tottenham no matter how many 20 man protests turn up at the stadium.
There's no mystery as to why we wont spend, it's because he has found success in this model. It's a model that is unlikely to win football trophies, but it does win something much more valuable to him and the board.
MONEY AND PROFIT
Where does the profit go though? Two decades now and the only money coming out of the club is Levy’s salary, granted a very good one. But no dividends. No sign of money coming out for non-football projects that don’t then lead to money coming back in. What is the point of making all this profit that everyone thinks we have swilling around the place?

MONEY AND PROFIT
All it would be is us offering tens of millions a year to the tax man. We shouldn’t want to make profits, certainly not a very high one, unless we pay dividends, which we don’t. So do we just have a bank account with a massive amount of money in it doing nothing?
Maybe we have got a couple of hundred million to spend this summer, but just want to spend it on the right players. Ones that the manager and scouting team are agreed on. Almost certainly players already at a high level if we feel they would improve us, so probably players who are quite settled where they are, and therefore more difficult to sign.
Would we rather get our first choice in the last week of the window, or our second choice now, or our third choice in July? I know which I’d prefer.
But maybe I’m wrong in all this. Maybe the guys who own the club and seem to have no wish to sell it, are just stockpiling cash for no reason at all.
Genuinely, I’m curious about some of the assumptions made in this post. Where are these ‘serious profits’? Spurs, like almost all football clubs, lose money almost every year. Or at least they publish accounts that state this. Do you think they are lying on these documents?
The club according to Forbes is the most profitable football club on the planet,it generates crazy operating profit now due to the multi use stadium .
When we are posting loses it's due to stadium debt, but this is a kind of long term serviceable debt
And profits continue to get larger and larger each year
The clubs financial position is stronger than pretty much everyone else bar a small handful
It's the Netflix approach in layman's terms , Netflix are 14 billion in debt but their financial rating, credit rating and standing with the banks is excellent

Most companies pay shareholders dividends, I presume Spurs do too , I’ve no idea but with the vast majority of shares being owned by ENIC / Levy I presume they get a tidy sum. We’ve since found out that water companies give out dividends even when they make a loss
I’ve not really looked into Levy or ENIC for ages as it’s kind of pointless, we know what they do & their business is property development, I feel the team is an afterthought, just keep it chugging along with no risk
I think if you look at the rise of Levy’s worth over 20 odd years . It’s gone from 10’s of millions to half a billion . I’m not saying that he’s skimming £ but I’d suggest that he’s made that off the back of THFC
Yeah you are right, they are property developers not football people.
But in fairness, levy did say that, they were in it for financial reasons only, so he was upfront about it from the start.
They don’t take dividends really or skim like the Glazers.
My issue is their blind spot to invest and gamble at certain times is down to their vast vested interest. It’s not a retail business that requires super careful risk free decisions as a default. Pay over the odds from time to time, take calculated risk when the situation requires it

I think that’s were most of the frustration lies. Yup he did say it from day one so you can’t say he didn’t warn us but it’s the near misses , the in capability of pushing on , there’s been countless occasions. Most of us follow the football and it’s hard to get excited about hotels , golf clubs or NFL
I do wonder if the Tanguy deal affected this . But then again that was down to woeful research on the player . It was known since he was a kid that he was a lazy sod
