Yeah ok but ‘people sad because no trophies’ is an insanely flippant way to dismiss winning basically nothing as an established top 6 team.
You don’t need to insult anyone (although you do, just for different reasons lmao) or be outraged but you could stop acting like it isn’t a big deal.

I guess in the scale of things that are actually big deals, it doesn't seem worth some of the extreme negative energy that sometimes is expressed. Ultimately it's a game none of us have any control over, and it's a game that should be predominantly enjoyed for the ride.
Still in all comps and we have had people losing their shit already this season. It's just a bit much imho

Would have to have historical data which doesn't exist to know how that compares to the Golden Quarter.
In many of our Cup winning seasons in the 70s and 80s we were dreadful in the league. Thus I would expect we were not favourites in plenty of those runs as well.
In any event, 1 trophy from 14 Semis is poor performance from the players and management. If you're good enough to reach 14 Semis, you really ought to have a few trophies just by luck.
My point wasn't specifically that ENIC aren't to blame, they 100% share in the blame. But they're not solely to blame, and the characterization of the period as an abnormally disastrous lack of trophies isn't really accurate to club history either. If we somehow managed the Europa + League Cup double this season, it would immediately put ENIC right back on par for the course.

League form wouldn't come into it. We were well known as being a cup team.
Tried to poke holes in this looking at 1981, but christ what a fortunate string of draws:
QPR (8th in Div 2)
Hull (25th in Div 3)
Coventry (16th Div 1)
Exeter (11th in Div 3)
Wolves (18th in Div 1)
Man City (12th in Div 1)
Even in a season we weren't very good in the league we likely were favourites for each of those fixtures.
We were still a quality cup team in that quarter with world class players and were likely still favourites, rather than underpaid, plucky little triers
Bookmakers are professionals that win out overall so if you ignore their intelligence, you are an idiot. They get it wrong of course but that always net out as winners

It’s not far wrong. Any time we develop a genuinely Elite player (not just someone the fans think is elite because he strung together 4 good games) that player leaves to go win stuff and get paid fairly.
The difference in the past was that Cup matches were prioritised over the league and not the other way around. In 91 Gaza was carrying an injury and missed many league matches but was always fit for the FACup and got us to the final. That would not happen today. He would play in the league and not the cup.
Mourinho said that there was no bonus clause in his contract for winning a cup. Presumably the players are the same.
Now we have beaten the teams in the Europa league with weakened teams but if play the same team against better opposition then we will be sending out the message to the players that it is not important.
It is not only the big semi’s and finals that we have lost but the times we did not get there because we lost to lower division teams playing a weakened team.
Our priorities need to change if we want to win a trophy.
Now I want to beat Palace but not as much as I want to beat MCity but which match will Ange prioritise.

You're using the term underdog as if we were a championship team.
My guess is that the odds were marginal and as proved by results against each of those sides and also how close to where we finished to them in the league we were good enough to beat them.
The difference on the days was down to how our very very capable teams performed.
Also a mischaracterization. We've sold players to Madrid and Bayern. There's not a club in England that has consistently successfully spurned offers from those 2. Walker was sold because he basically downed tools during the season telling Poch his heart wasn't in the fight anymore because he'd already decided he was going to join City - before an official offer had even been made.
Liverpool have habitually sold their best players and have a net spend less than ours - managed to win things.
This is my problem with the #ENICOUT crowd - the continual exaggeration. Like I said, yes ENIC bear a lot of responsibility for the disappointment of the past 25 years - but the players and managers had opportunities yet spit the bit. Even still we're 1 cup double away from ENIC being 100% on par with the club's typical silverware haul. So it's not as if the drought is wildly out of character for the club.

Huh? Liverpool have kept their best core players, that’s why they’ve won stuff ffs. Salah, VVD, Alisson, Trent, Robertson. Their spine has been kept. We sell VVd. We sell Salah.
They sold who, Mane? That’s pretty much it. When they were actually a selling club (Suarez, Torres etc) they didn’t win shit all.

I mentioned it tonight for some reason at a family dinner . The wife said it wasn’t a poker face it was probably all the Botox ( allegedly
) that left her facially expressionless . So basically she was trying to convey a message but was unable to. So I still have no fucking idea what it was .but she probably thinks she gave me a hint .
