To put it another way Spurs won 11 League matches last season. Since the League changed to 38 games no team has gone down with 11 wins.Sure but two clubs which had awful league seasons whilst winning a trophy all the same. In fact last season was a record for Spurs, the first team not to get relegated with 22 loses in 30 years of Premier League matches of 38.
We also had a goal difference of only -1 and no team has gone down with anywhere near as good a GD as that either.
We also had the least amount of draws in the League. If we'd been able to field a team that was anywhere near full strength during December and January, we'd probably have turned a few of those losses into draws (or even wins), and finished higher up the table.
Last season was a complete freak in lots of ways, which is why I was so sanguine about the League position, and was happy to give Ange another year.
