ENIC In or ENIC Out

Clearly there has been a power change in ENIC, Joe Lewis has always supported Levy but now his shares are in a family trust and he cannot have sole control or it would be pointless. His children who are middle aged and heavily involved in the business have clearly been unhappy at the way the club has been run. Carrington was put on the board of Tottenham, a CEO was appointed & Cullen resigned. Levy had combined the role of Chairman & CEO but with the appointment he should not have been so involved in the running of the club. There appeared to be no change and what was the CEO doing?
Therefore the Lewis children pushed for Levy to go as he would not relinquish Control.
How it will change remains to be seen and it is Vinai that will run things.
Carrington whilst Chairman is ENIC’s representative on the board but as a Banker will not be involved in the running of the club and will take instructions from the Lewis family. He is not a shareholder like Levy and I doubt we will hear about him but he will be involved with finances in the background.
The late spending in the transfer window was a good indication of things to come but we will have to wait to see if spending is to be increased every year.

Agree with most of that. Although the only late spending was the Xavi Simons deal really.
The more telling development was Christian Romero committing his future to the club. He must have seen something going on behind the scenes to convince him positive change was on the horizon given his forthright criticism of the ownership just 6 months before

Being disgruntled after years of mismanagement will do that. It will also cost you your job, see Levy.

Anyway, he's gone, and 99% of us are thrilled, so I don't give a flying one how it happened, only that it happened.
I'm perhaps a little more cautious than some in my expecations that investment into the team will improve significantly under the same ownership, we will see

The club statement said "...no change in ownership structure..."

So, the structure remains the same, however, who will be the majority owner is a different thing.

Don't be surprised that, after the dust settles, Lewis family sells their share (don't always buy this new direction, more winning PR talk). The potential buyer(s) might have told them that they don't want to deal with Levy and they need to remove him before a sale is agreed.

The club has been open about wanting new investment forever, Levy leaving won't change that. They just won't announce a change in the ownership until it is confirmed.

Yeah can’t be true. He’s such a likeable, and charming bloke

Have you ever really heard anything to the contrary, outside of negativity of fans?

Seen regularly about doing normal people stuff, approachable as a person, and seemingly from all the players and managers he was very much the same. Again, has a wide network of friendships within club ownership circles. We're one of the few clubs I've heard of that is referenced as having close relationships with clubs we have no shared ownership with

Seems more to me that there are clubs that don't like him for what he stands for and against (artificial revenue streams). Even the 'anti-levy' sentiments are based very, very, heavily on conjecture or projection than actually him as a person - or at least it has always seemed that way.

The main issue for the outside world is that he seems to have been turned into a caricature by the basis of not being a public persona. Media created various tropes over the years that someone like Simon Jordan would have spoken out against and rebuffed, but the issue with our club is that we have never acted that way.

Anyway, can we somehow agree, going forwards:
  • Who will be to blame for transfers not being completed
  • Who those of us on the non-Levy-hating side are supposedly being paid for to post here (as is one common cliche)
  • Is John Thomas now "pro-ENIC" considering how he's reacting in general
  • Are those of us who appreciated what Levy did in spite of how useless Lewis was now taking over as Anti-ENIC whilst the previous anti-ENIC are now seemingly pro-ENIC???
