Clearly there has been a power change in ENIC, Joe Lewis has always supported Levy but now his shares are in a family trust and he cannot have sole control or it would be pointless. His children who are middle aged and heavily involved in the business have clearly been unhappy at the way the club has been run. Carrington was put on the board of Tottenham, a CEO was appointed & Cullen resigned. Levy had combined the role of Chairman & CEO but with the appointment he should not have been so involved in the running of the club. There appeared to be no change and what was the CEO doing?
Therefore the Lewis children pushed for Levy to go as he would not relinquish Control.
How it will change remains to be seen and it is Vinai that will run things.
Carrington whilst Chairman is ENIC’s representative on the board but as a Banker will not be involved in the running of the club and will take instructions from the Lewis family. He is not a shareholder like Levy and I doubt we will hear about him but he will be involved with finances in the background.
The late spending in the transfer window was a good indication of things to come but we will have to wait to see if spending is to be increased every year.
