When all the news leaked out in June on LWOS and Charrington was appointed back in March, so it had surely been in the works since the start of the year. Maybe the club was a Christmas present by Joe Lewis to the kids last year, who knows!?!?

It's the equivalent of having 3 riot vans pull up to your house with 15 coppers carrying a door breaker down the path and not realising you're about to be nicked.

The Lewis's were cuckooing him since the first quarter of the year.

When I started supporting spurs there were only 2 big london clubs spurs and the Woolwich (and we weren't that far off them in quality) But these days chelsea and arguably even Crystal Palace are above us in the pecking order. This is the problem 10 years of alan sugar then 26 years and still counting of ENIC. For nearly 40 years the club has been happy to just exist in the league with minimum investment every now and again to keep spurs in the league and maybe nick a European spot. There has been no real investment for nearly 40 years we've just stood still bit like Everton. Chelsea have overtaken us and now even villa and Newcastle are competing with. (It will be forest and leeds next that overtake us if we not careful) This is what happens with 40 years of no proper investment in the team because the owners are there to take money out the club in share payouts. I understand levy has gone but he was just the fall guy this has no chance of getting better til ENIC go. They built a new stadium sure and it increases the clubs value but its still debt which is gonna set the club back 15 years in being able to compete in the transfer market. Its become irrelevant who the manager is (though I never wanted Frank in) as spurs cannot pay the wages for top class players. (Why the hell dyou think Ben Davies was in yhe squad for that long ffs!!) It doesn't matter what manager or what system they adopt they ain't got the players to do it, even mourinho who i accept was negative tactics we were trying to win 1 nil with f***k**g Erik dier in defence do me a favor !! Its just the same old story decade after decade and supporting spurs is a life sentence !! Ok we won the europa ...not enough for me ...you could even argue that the europa league is a mickey mouse cup considering the easy opposition we had to play to get to final. #ENICOUT...nothing is gonna happen for another 50 years until these bas***ds leave.

Yeah I agree with you here. I do find Romero signing his new contract the strangest aspect of the summer. Sure, he seems thick as pig shit and that is probably the reason he signed on with us, but as a career move it was bizarre. He could have refused to sign the new contract and left this summer, after possibly winning the world cup and gone to a big team in Spain on mega money.

They must have promised him something. Or he really is a bit thick.

I'm sure it has been said that the appointment of Frank was signed of by them too (via Vinay I would think). Regarding that, we dont know how they will be with managers. Trigger happy like Levy, give them more time, or leave it to gooner Vinay to decide. I suspect they will just let him get on with it.
Must be a fee agreed in the terms eg he can leave if a CL club pays £60M, freeing him up to go to Chelsea, Newcastle or possibly Palace

Best news i heard hopefully no more red

It'll be one of these, no doubt

Football is becoming a bit like NBA in terms of players with enough leverage signing big contracts as a safety net before downing tools to force their way out when a bigger team comes along. Isak and Wissa this summer did it for example. If Romero started sulking I have a feeling that he would eventually get his way as well, although he obviously wouldn't be leaving for peanuts. In that case there would be no downside of signing that contract.

As for the Lewis family, is there anything to this other than their self-proclaimed ambition? Are children, unlike father, actually diehard football and Tottenham fans for example? If not, I fail to see why they would change their business model that has been printing them money as the consensus has it here.

Romero’s contract means fuck all. He got a pay bump and if he tells the club he doesn’t want to play here anymore, they’ll sell him.
