ENIC In or ENIC Out

Nah it is just utter incompetence. Trouble is, it will probably take years to get over. I dont think ENIC will make a difference. It will be more of the same. We are pretty fucked.

Need to be mindful not to disassociate ENIC, or the Lewis family with our approach over the past 20 years.

Levy operated under the mandate of the ownership. He would have been sacked years ago if not.

We don't yet have reliable evidence that things have changed on the footballing ambition side relative to what we have seen in the past.

It's bonkers to me that the narrative is somehow that ENIC are some super new ownership group that are flying in to rescue.

I am happy to be corrected on this, but none of the Lewises were sat in the cold away at Marine, or - well - any of our matches to be honest. They were happy to pretty much abandon Levy on the project having to create a self-investing project to get a training ground, college, stadium etc all while getting CL football. They were there the whole time. Vivienne is in her 60s, so it's not like the kids were actual kids the whole time. Could have invested, become involved, helped... anonymous.

The narrative to me seems to be like DL was somehow an impediment to the gravy train (bearing in mind, IIRC, no dividends and no money has been taken out of the club over the period), so I just get a particularly bad feeling about this, and anyone who was 'anti-Levy' now celebrating the existence of ENIC is just following the pied piper's tune.

If I'm honest, I'm actually disappointed when I realised the kids are in their 60s. 😅 I would have expected the kids to be in their 30s, 40s, full of vigour and ideas to bring us forward, taking out the old and conservative way of management and make us more competitive.

Guess I need to pray for the grandkids to come out to the fore now.

If ENIC were serious about wanting a successful football team and seeing us fulfill our potential, they'd sell the club to more ambitious owners. Simple as that

Depends on what your definition is of success. Over the last 10 years

EPL - CITY(7), LIVERPOOL(2), LEICESTER(1)
LA LIGA - BARCA(5), REAL (4), A MADRID (1)
GERMANY - MUNICH (9), BL (1)

CL - REAL(5), LIVERPOOL, CITY, CHELSEA, PSG, MUNICH (1)

So essentially, it's the same teams winning everything - and they also just so happen to have the worlds best players. What have Spurs done to earn a spot in that group? And crucially, how much money needs to be spent to get into that group?

Is the desire to be a 1 season wonder (BL, Leicester) or build consistency?

Just voted Levy IN which pretty much sums up our direction of travel right now now.... :cautious:
We were a warmer , more family orientated club when Daniel was at the reigns , comfort and security oozed out of every single one of his pores

Vinai can never replace what we lost when Daniel was tragically ousted , I could never imagine being comforted by the embrace of Vinai's gentle bosom

Could you?

Of course, that’s what I’m saying. It’s more than likely going to be more of the same.

I think it'll be more of the same. I think they saw the growing protests and resentment within the fanbase and figured that removing the focal point of the unrest would settle things down and buy them more time..

.it's already working to an extent. The protests have been quelled (for now) and fans who were previously ENIC out are saying give them a few windows to see what they're about without Levy's stinking influence hampering any progress.

But one thing that even the most devout Levy followers can't deny is that he'd become a hugely divisive and controversial figure within the fanbase and had to be removed for this alone. Things had become toxic.

He'd also just overseen our worst league campaign for like a hundred years in terms of defeats. Let nobody forget this.

January will be a good indicator. As will their persistence in continuing with a flailing, uninspiring manager serving up anti-football for the fans to digest on a weekly basis.

My own pessimism has been reinforced by the latest suggestion that they're sticking with Frank

It's just the same pattern you see everywhere. Amazing how many people start pretending to care about someone or something when they're due to inherit it.

I'm sure they're supposed to be "fans" of the club.

Can anyone on this forum honestly put their hand up and say that if their family owned the club that they wouldn't have been milking the opportunity to get great seats at every game and be pushing for investment?

"we're such big fans of the club, but have no particular interest in watching them. Or, well, seeing them do well"

Granted, ENIC haven't been a parasitic drain on the club like many, many, other owners, but I'm concerned that having actually had a tottenham fan steering the ship in the past, regardless of people's opinions on competency, has been the protective bubble around us not being sold to one of the problematic 'hedge fund' companies that would be shilling for us to be 'Tottenham Fighting Chickens' or something

Not sure what people are expecting.

Club culture takes years to change, this won’t be Viani’s club for at least 3-5 years if not longer in terms of the culture. As for ENIC under Vivienne we haven’t had a single window under her yet so remains to be seen if the they will walk the walk and provide funding. By the end of next summer we will know if there is any real change or it’s just business as normal.

I am ok to give them this window and see if anything has changed
You will be sorely disappointed if you are expecting transformational change or any change come to think of it.
1. January is notoriously difficult to do business with teams not wanting to sell their best players and if those players force a move there is a ridiculous premium added to the fee (see Pedro Porro transfer - you cannot convince me he is a 40m player)
2. The club still owes over 280m in transfer fees with less than 60m owed to us. Not an issue so long as payments are made on time but these obligations are going to eventually impact transfer strategy, especially as it looks like we won't have European football next season. You can't keep using the credit card if it's maxed out.
3. We may need to look at selling one of our better players before we spend big again. The two clear candidates are Romero and van der Ven. Their stock remains high despite the shit show of a season we are having.
4. Finally, people talk about cash injection and point to this 100m injected in the summer. I need to point out that our cash flow was in a precarious position back then and the 100m was injected to shore this up. Not for player purchases.

To summarise. Unless ENIC inject more cash on a scale similar to what the Chavs and City did in the early years of Abramovich and Mansour, then the best we can hope for is a couple of loan signings. I know that is depressing but it's wrong to let you sit there and think January is going to see the club go out and break their transfer record a couple of times and smash their wage structure.

agree but that assumes BAU. I don’t think that’s the case and I expect a cash injection to be made in the background. If I’m wrong, then f them - we will be fighting relegation in a half empty stadium are their investment will demise
