rubbish, the objective was to buy players first and use brinksmanship to get the most money out of Madrid. If you are a stock broker or investor then Daniel levy is your hero but as a football fan, He is an absolute twat.

lol you can believe we had a master plan all you like, we don't roll like that

and if so why tell Paulinho he wasn't going to get sold when buying him?

at some point our position changed but to act like we had a plan from the off is laughable

Levy got a dizzying offer at some point and decided to cash in but lets get one thing straight if we wanted to keep him we very much could have.

Liverpool would have bitten their hands off at £60m, never mind £86m.

But short memories, as that happened the season before he left. Same with Modric. We got an extra season from them
 
Like has been said, we could have kept Bale as he had a contract. We got offered a lot of money, as opposed to having a Bale akin to Vertonghen this season (miserable and off form), and he'd be worth nothing and contribute less.


We sold players, we got Eriksen and 6 others. Winner.

you mean having a Bale akin to Suarez this season who has been bitterly disappointed, playing like absolute crap and refusing to sign a new contract, oh wait....lol

give it a rest mate, fuck the money we dropped a clanger selling Bale hence our season going to absolute shit. Infact Vertonghen and Lloris probably wouldn't be counting the days til the transfer window opened if we'd kept him

But then we'd have kept AVB and would be under the false pretence that we were moving in the direction that we wanted to.

It's entirely plausible that in 12 months time we'll be thankful certain thing have happened as a result of that transfers, who knows?

For me, we lost an excellent player (and I still follow his progress at RM), but we're closer to being a team than a one-man-team, despite the crap performances, and I prefer that.

we sold the best player THFC has ever developed in it's entire history

Levy sold something that was priceless. I will never be happy we sold Bale, Eriksen cost peanuts we could've got him in regardless.

Couldn't have held him hostage though. He gave us plenty of good times and great moments, but I don't resent him for leaving as his career is good for another 7 years max (based on his game being pace based). If he wants to come back later on and play for us again, then great. But in the light of things, he brought in a large fee that should have been better invested, but both AVB & Baldini were entrusted with the job and didn't exactly do a good job of it so far.

I don't really think it's productive to resent the past and cling to it - we have a future and if it means we cleanse the club of Sherwood and get someone like LVG then it may well be worth it in some way, long term.

AVB did not want half those players and he wanted Moutinho, Hulk and Villa. What's he supposed to do if badly thinks Chadli is the bargain of the season?
 
We should have kept Bale, regardless.
