Ex-Spurs Player Eric Dier

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

No i meant 18/19 as you said Dier's injury was the reason Sanchez got more games in 18/19.

The change back to 4231 (from 3421) was equally significant as, with Wanyama being crocked from there-on in, Dier was indeed playing DM a lot more again..... In that scenario, as soon as you need a back-up CB you're gonna reach for Dav rather than drag Dier out of MF when there's no obv replacement for him(*).

(*It's not like Sissoko has ever been trusted in that deeper role..... And with Dembele crumbling and Dier accumulating time off, we eventually resigned ourselves to WinkSoko as the season came to a conclusion. through necessity rather than choice.)

Also if Dav didnt like being benched for Toby and Vert..he's mad. Almost every CB in all top 4 clubs in those days would have been benched for Toby and Vert. (when age hadnt caught up with them yet)

Toby should have been made to earn his way back as were doing just fine without him..... I wouldn't say Dav didn't like it per say, but there's little more than he could have done to prove himself and that it would have dented his confidence...... All the while Toby was playing games over a new deal when Poch had already gone to bat for him to get the pay-rise he wanted......

We saw very similar when Rose returned from injury and despite him cunting us off in The Sun he was put straight back in at Davies's expense when Ben had done a good job for the prev. year or so with little rest or rotation.....

It was the end of the meritocracy under Poch.

Pawn Stars’ appraiser ofc!

I estimate his value given similar to transactions to similar quality footballers. As I don’t value him as a footballer this naturally drives down his value in my eyes

let him go for 5 mill now. why have someone whos useless for another year, sucking 100k a week out of the club and being nothing but a liability...get everton on the phone! that will defo see them relegated next year

Just kick em out NOW him and his dumb and dumber partner davies

I would keep Davies as a steady ish back up to udogie as being his first season and not knowing how he will adapt to theEPL.
The other 2 I’d try and sell if no takers let them go on a free to get them off the wage bill, same with Tanganga and Rodon. We have far too many CBs who are not anywhere near good enough

Sessegnon is still here , I know it's difficult to remember with him.
But no point keeping 3 left backs , of he could stay fit rather Ryan at lb than Davies. Decent enough lcb in a three, appalling fullback these days, gets turned for fun

Been playing with an injury since January apparently. Might explain some of his bad performances, but surely that's some dreadful decision making.
He was also concussed against I believe it was United and just kept on playing. And just like with Vertonghen that was bound to have an effect.

Football seems decades behind sports like American football, hockey and basketball as far as medical science works. A player playing through a groin injury shouldn't either be not noticed or ignored for months.

Combined with managers fighting with the medical department so that their players can rush back and help with short term results it is no wonder that we have players that get chronic issues.

Lloris, Dier, Davies, Lo Celso, Bissouma, Romero, Vertonghen, Kane. We have a history of players playing through injuries when they should be taking time off or even surgery.
