I sure as fuck want Shaw v Yamal rather than Trippier.
It will be a good tussle. Williams seems quite fearless but he lacks end product.
What he will do is stop Walker marauding forward. No one but he can stop Williams once he is in full flight.

Its the standard theme of an international coach preferring experience + familiarity over somehow who is exploding on to the scene at club level but hasn't developed relationships with the team.
Because he still needs to learn positional aptitude. It's the big next step. Essential for club and country.

De vrijj is ancient. Baffling to me. Vdv brings pace to that defence and not saying he would of done anything with Watkins but he would of been there to stop him at least

I’ll give Southgate something. The team spirit is great. He’s sorted that. Shit tactician but good at the mental side of things. Maybe one of the best.

De Vrij is 32. That's not old for a centre back, and its definitely not anything approaching ancient.
Nobody did anything wrong for the goal. No centre back does anything different. He works him out to a very low percentage area and doesn't commit. The chances of Watkins scoring from that position and angle are very low .. it's just a brilliant, brilliant finish.
