Surprising since both the last world cups were all government meddling.
The difference is "government meddling with very large brown paper bags given to FIFA in exchange"

yes, state intervention is to be encouraged when it benefits FIFA members.Surprising since both the last world cups were all government meddling.
But those governments gave Fifa money. BIG difference in the eyes of Infantino.Surprising since both the last world cups were all government meddling.
Should be approx. 3 weeks until the 3 judge panel get to the end of the 115 charges that make up the PL case against City.
I wonder if Pep agreeing an extension is symbolic of early noises coming from the enquiry.

Corruption.I don’t really understand football finance ; but I get the feeling that some on here do .
My genuine question is ; how can Man City make so much money ? when their ground isn’t the biggest , their wage bill is relatively huge , ticket prices not the highest, global fan-base not all that etc .
I understand that winning stuff earns you prize money (as does being on telly ) . But is that all there is to it ?
Once again; it’s a genuine question.

Their wage bill and other expenses (outgoings) are irrelevant here as this is just a “revenue” (incomings) figure. And I would imagine sponsorships (many of which are related party) make up a good chunk.
TV revenues, for which success in the league and progression in the CL is paramount, is the largest piece of the pie. Thanks ; I get your point about wages / TFs not being relevant to their income .
Which is where their owners also being the people who sponsor their shirts and stadium come in ( ? ) . And whatever other “ deals” they may have in place through (?) third parties.
I’m guessing with a more level playing field their rivals across the city , say would probably out-do them on the income-front .
Again: apologies if some of my questions seem a bit basic .
They probably get huge sponsorship deals off the back of their success![]()

City don't have the matchday in-stadium revenue we do (though they aren't miles off), they don't have the sponsorship income United does (though they aren't miles off, related party flim-flam notwithstanding), but because they win they make the most TV money and that carries the day.

ManC’s commercial revenue is bigger than their tv revenue.

City are in effect sponsoring themselves as a way of getting around ffp.Genuinely grateful for the link : thank you .
Having speed read it ; the two things that strike me are that 1) Performance and revenue are (obviously) crucially linked and ( and seriously I’m not trying to cause trouble here ) we seem to be out-performing á whole lot of bigger clubs in terms of our non-performance-linked income . But 2) fall behind because of the risk-and-reward side of things .
Man City would thus seem to be riding a wave ; investing ( however it was done ) and then collecting their
“ winnings “ on their investment . Which unlike Leeds in the 90’s could always somehow be underwritten.
Strange old world.
Obviously I may have oversimplified things but I think I get it ; far more than when I asked my original question.
Thank You again for the link .
