...but it's very frustrating & annoying when you're trying to have a proper cunt off with someone over something they may or may not have posted several years ago.My guess would be it's to stop runaway database queries, like where someone searches for 'cunt' on 14 years worth of posts.
I always found that people had vendettas even from other forums before TFC existed a bit odd. It's a bit like an N17 version of Highlander....but it's very frustrating & annoying when you're trying to have a proper cunt off with someone over something they may or may not have posted several years ago.
You're correct - I used to deploy Xenforo & admin a few forums on the back-end, never on the front end. Dealing with Users is just not my thing...My guess would be it's to stop runaway database queries, like where someone searches for 'cunt' on 14 years worth of posts.

You have to limit searches as you could use them to exploit the platform, depending on the resources allocated to it's instance.
There are addons you can deploy but hey - it is what it is innit.

Search Limits
Our staff reported this You only get 10 pages of posts. Tried to tag some and only lets me go back 10 pages. I did a search, same thing Only 10 pages How do we increase these limits, so we can search member posts back to the beginning? This is a critical component of our Admin/Mod team...xenforo.com
Horizon? My comment was based on experience in the wider software industry. We once delivered a completely new system based on a legacy technology. Part of the deal was we'd migrate the entire historical database. It did work, but on day 1 client tester #1 decided to do a 'show me everything from ever' query. Needless to say, we had to protect them from their own stupidity as a result.
Yes I know hence why I tailored it with my own experience. My comment was based on experience in the wider software industry. We once delivered a completely new system based on a legacy technology. Seems to be completely broken nowNot sure, that's just how the search works. I guess if you've not found what you're after within 10 pages of results then you need to refine your search terms a bit.
Ads have been there for members for years. Not sure why you're suddenly seeing a message about them. Are ads now a thing for members? I keep getting a message to allow ads. I am happy to allow it but signals a change.
My supporter thingy expired a few days ago (just noticed) and I'm still seeing no adverts at all.Are ads now a thing for members? I keep getting a message to allow ads. I am happy to allow it but signals a change.
I have just realised I changed adblocker. I thought the website had now changed lol and added a subscription thing. The message was aggressive though; every time I opened a page. I paid the £1.50 anyway, I genuinely didn't know it was a thing.Ads have been there for members for years. Not sure why your suddenly seeing a message about them.
