Crazy that this is the best we can do for our back-up goalie. I know it takes time to rebuild and reshape the squad but to leave our goalkeeping position in these hands is criminal negligence.

He was legit terrible and we are very lucky his screwups didn’t cost us the game.

The miscommunication with Dragusin was obviously the most slapstick moment; but far more worrying was the time it took to get his body down/low...... Something already evidenced v Fulham last year.

Never understood the new contract; but Whiteman & Austin are equally as annoying to me now tbh........ They're both 25 now... If they even can't be given a crack v Coventry or Qarabag then cut the cord and let's not continue to pretend they are on a pathway to the squad and that Forster is just an interim measure til one of them breaks out.

I said in the summer a new GK2 was a must.... It clearly wasn't a money thing cos it ought to be a cheap enough role to fill.

I think his last contract extension is more understandable now - Paratici/Lange looking round at potential candidates for a no 2 GK and decided that the 'new' candidates were no better than Forster who is well liked and respected in dressing room, so why not keep Forster for another season.

If we are lucky then Lange will have identified an experienced gk who preferred to move next summer and last summer.

My only glimmer of hope/cope here is that he looked at least EL professional GK level vs AZ.

Having said that, his last 5 performances he looked barely above the non-league level.

Good performance and clean sheet! :ange-clap:
Did his job, never looked uncomfortable making saves. Can't complain really.
A good shift by the team dad.
Hats off to big Triple-F...... Sturdy game tonight.
Made some important saves in the game. England, England’s number one! 😂😂😂

Worth reminding other posters that Forster played well for Spurs only a month ago.

So he's just got to continue with that kind of form !

Biggest concern for me is Ange needing to tweak things so that there's always lots of options for him and the CBs when playing out.... The back line sitting a little deeper is only part of the puzzle.

The back line sitting a little deeper is one of the factors allowing us to beat Man City - so that may not be such a bad thing.

Forster is better than Vicario at kicking out I think, so it maybe we vary playing out from the back and kicking out from back, which makes us less predictable ....... which may help us.

Spurs have let in a lot less goals this season which I think is at least partly due to a better defence in front of gk (including Davies/Dragusin) and a solid CM ..... so I think we just need to continue that which has led Spurs to have the least shots on our goal of all other PL teams, which in turn helps Forster needing to stop fewer shots than other teams so that's good news.
We can't change Vicario needing an op, just need to support Forster as much as we can and wish him all the luck possible !
