Ex-Spurs Player Gareth Bale

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I like coming on here. I enjoy the discussion and the banter. I like to put my point of view across, even though some don't agree with it.
But like you, I occasionally get frustrated when people fail to put up a reasonable counter argument,or worse, belittle the stature of our club

"I dont care about the cost"

...Solid, "reasonable counter argument" there mate. :pochunimpressed:

Hypocryte.

he's 28 and suffering from constant calf muscle problems. he aint getting any faster, and once the pace goes (usually happens fairly quickly when players have calf issues. thats where the lactic acid builds up when we have run too much. thats where the cramps start in 400m runners.), he isnt a good enough player..his game is built around being a power runner.

there is a reason why the asking price has been dropped. its because Real Madrid dont think he's worth it anymore. 19 different injuries in 5 seasons is probably the reason why
He also is one of the best in the world at striking the ball from outside of the box. A huge problem we have run into are teams parking the bus and us having trouble penetrating. Having Bale's left foot would a huge asset.

If levy and pochettino want him then fair enough.

I'd only accept him back if he got a fucking haircut though.
Looks like a right twat

This is the number one reason we should swerve.
World class perhaps, but I’d be hugely surprised if an injury prone player suddenly stops getting injured just because he comes back to the club that made him a star & takes a pay cut in the process. He is at the club he always dreamed of playing for. Let them pay his wages whilst he’s sat by his pool “recuperating”.
With the amount of money involved, it’s too big a risk to take. Why buy a Ferrari if you can’t afford to have it sat in the garage when it’s fucked, & have to ride to work on a moped?

Maybe we should just keep his left foot and flog the rest of him on to United.... Win/win.

:dierpochhug:

Yes, the natural reaction to someone who says fuck worrying about the finances. You should see it coming because it's obvious.
He's a player that used to play for us.
We are a very, very wealthy football club.
We play in the Champions league.
He may become available.
Why should signing him put us on the verge of financial meltdown like Portsmouth and fucking Leeds?

Oh.My.God.......I knew this was coming.

A few of us would like to sign Gareth Bale and the famous Portsmouth/Leeds comparison gets rolled out.

Read the post before it again....

By all means provide counter examples... That would be more "constructive" right?

(Tho don't bother citing Blackburn... City and Chavs put paid to that happening for the foreseeable... If not forever.)

Oh wait there aren't any, but we should still jack in our current model and meticulously plotted long term plans cos some fans like sparkly things (yet have no interest in whether they can be afforded).

I can understand people being concerned about him being worth the money, but being concerned about it being financially damaging? If I'm not mistaken we're one of the top 10 richest clubs in the world, we're not gonna go bust if we spend 20m more than we did on a 21 centre back in the summer ffs

Is that really what you think Bale would be with a slight drop in pace though? Worthless outside of taking free kicks? He's too good to be just that.
When a players game is based around pace, and that pace goes, (its rarely a slight drop. it goes), they dont have a huge amount to offer. add to that Bale's long term and almost constant muscle problems, in a league where he isnt expected to do much chasing back, say he just aint worth it any more.

Transfer fees aren't the killers. Wages are. And Gareth Bale is currently on £350,000 a week.

There’s a lot on here that are 100% convinces that Bale wouldn’t shift a penny from his present wage. I’m not that confident in my own financial situation, let alone that of a complete stranger. What’s to say he wouldn’t take a massive drop in money to make a hero’s return? It’s not as if he needs the cash.

Make a case for him not coming back due to his ability, but to say with certainty that he’d break our wage structure is not a statement anyone should feel confident in making.

As for his fee, if he’s around £60m, he’s costing two Sissokos. Bargain.

Probably complete bullshit but I've read he'd be willing to take a pay cut, I just don't see why people are so outraged that people would want him back, it's all hypotheticals at this point anyway
I'd want the Gareth Bale we had back, but currently he's crocked. Super crocked.

In regards to the pay cut. There's paycuts and there's paycuts. Even if he took a 50% paycut, which he wouldn't (who would?), he'd still be at £175,000 a week which is way above our structure and we'd have to give pay rises to others to bring them in line with Bale.

There's just too many if's with him. Everyone would want a fit and firing Bale, unfortunately, all signs suggest that no longer exists.

21 year old... Fit as an ox and on an upward trajectory.

Sanchez was a very different proposition to blowing whats likely to be an entire years budget on a risky Bale. Also DS is likely on a 10th of Bales current wages.
