Be careful what you wish for Vicki Sparks or Alex Scott?
Whilst Gary takes over at Sky?
With any luck he’ll end up with BEIN and be Richard Keys Bitch!

Spurs account getting almost unanimous pelters after wishing him a happy birthday. It makes me quite curious about his overall standing at the club since the day he signed because he was such a key player during his time here.
He's a couple of years before my time when my interest in Spurs grew and growing up I really liked him as he seemed to be the only voice on MOTD defending us from constant Hansen and Lawro jibes.
Days of me watching that are long gone but has that really flipped now as this thread has hinted at? I have to admit he seems to carry this false persona that irritates me these days but have the supporters always felt this way about him?
I find it a little strange the overall hate he gets given he did little wrong during his playing career to affect Tottenham and I think he was at the WHL farewell too. Has he always been heavily disliked at the club and if not when did it flip?
To bring it back round I'm slightly surprised at just how much hate he gets with not even an acknowledgement of his great record with us.
He's a smug prick to bootBloke fucking hates us and never passes up an opportunity to dig us out. He can go and fuck himself.
His liberal politics annoy a lot of people. He's become a lightning rod for a certain type of person. I'm utterly ambivalent about him. Was instrumental in us winning an FA cup but like one or two EX Spurs players seems to have no deep love of the club, which started to make me wonder if that actually says more about the people who have owned the club over the years.

Fwiw I agree with most of what he says but
1. Clear he has no deep love of Spurs
2. The stories I’ve heard about him from well-placed sources are not very positive
He may not endear himself to everyone, for one reason or another.
But he left Barcelona to join us and scored important goals for the club and did as much as anyone to win us a trophy ( remember them ) back in the day . He seems to be on our side whenever he discusses football .
Apart from LCFC , his home-town club and the one he came through the ranks in and first played for ; we seem to be “ his “ team .
What’s not to like ?
Unless the whole refugee-thing is your main passion in life .
And if , as a grossly and offensively over- paid media celebrity , he comes across as a narcissistic self-regarding wanker when you get to meet him in “real-life “ ; trust me your license-fees does that to a lot of people. Loads of other “ working-class heroes “ have gone exactly the same way , and many more besides.
To sum up ; I don’t get all the hate for him on here . And I wish we had someone of his ilk playing for us today .
Not sure how much he loves us - Leicester are his team.He may not endear himself to everyone, for one reason or another.

I agree with his views on refugees. Could go further actually.
That’s not the criticism I’m hearing about him. Won’t say too much in a public forum but it’s of a different nature to him being arrogant. And if , as a grossly and offensively over- paid media celebrity , he comes across as a narcissistic self-regarding wanker when you get to meet him in “real-life “ ; trust me your license-fees do that to a lot of people. I think a lot of the dislike is from right-wing men who don’t like his politics. Imho.To sum up ; I don’t get all the hate for him on here . And I wish we had someone of his ilk playing for us today .

I'm ambivalent - his politics, overall, are fine by me, though stories about his off-screen behaviour leave a sour taste.100 % agree re LCFC ; and rightly so , but he clearly loved being with us (working under TV ) ; he’s said so on numerous occasions AFAIK . And seems to have a genuine affection for our club .
As I said he may behave like a pampered ego-centric celebrity nowadays ; hard not to when he’s being paid in excess of 1 million for tops 6 hours work a week with at least 12 weeks holiday a year.
I get the resentment when it comes to Tanguy but not so much for GL . Maybe it’s just me .

Tanguy is just a totally different order, lol, not fit to be held in his company, in a footballing sense anyway. Bloke was a complete dosser.
