I think GLC in for Maddison yesterday (instead of PEH) Would've been more like-for-like, but I can't help think that Ange wanted potentially an extra DM to protect Dier & Davies... which, until the 91st minute made sense!
Then again, Emerson was a square peg in a round hole at LB, when Davies, for all his limitations IS at least a LB...
I wouldn't be surprised is Phillips starts alongside Dier (or PEH) at CB against Villa... With maybe GLC fulfilling the 'Maddison role' seeing as we'll be at home, that HAS to count for summit, right?
But fuck ME that's a long 2 weeks to work on line up permutations right now...
All I can think about is why the fuck didn't we just HOOF (yes HOOF) it up the pitch at any opportunity from the 89th minute onwards???

Ange protecting Bentancur is the right decision long term for the player and the club,
I’m also thinking it was never a MF 3 that could work with Ange’s football but remember we are only just learning how he likes to play. He’s been doing this his whole life.
No doubt Ange knew what that MF could and couldn’t do but maybe he also had information we didn’t and GLC wasn’t fit enough to start either?
