Ex-Spurs Player Giovani Lo Celso

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Are you sure you have ever seen GLC play?

The only similarities GLC and Lamela have are injuries, Argentinian’s and c@nts.

On the ball they are absolutely different. GLC almost always makes the right choice, is quick in making decisions, accurate with passes, able to beat defenders with passes and dribbling.

Almost the exact opposite of Lamela.

What passes? He's got a nothing more than a handful of assists for us and unlike all of the little technical Man City fuckers, who all play one-touch, Gio constantly holds onto the ball too long.

He runs with the ball well. Unfortunately, we've got loads of those players already.

As mentioned in this thread already he often has the pass that leads to the assist and often that pass in more important than the final pass.

He also has had to play too deep in his time with because there is nobody else in our midfield to get the ball from the back four to tge attackers. When gas had been able to play closer to Kane/Son he has worked great with them and gives us something nobody else on this teams does.

He rarely, if ever, holds the ball too long.

Doesn't sound promising at the moment... At least another 4 weeks from what ive seen/heard

I doubt we'd start like this but it would be at least interesting thought experiment -

--------Son-----Kane--------
----------Alli/Lamela--------
---Lo Celso--Ndombele--
-----------Hjojberg---------
Regulion-Dier-Toby-Aurier
--------------Lloris------------

That would have 2 out and out goalscorers + 1 attacking midfielder purely supporting and combigning with them. Additionally 2 CM players who are good with the ball and can track back as well. Plus anchor in PEH.

I mean this team could control and keep the ball quite well..

But... despite being questionable if we would see that kind of lineup in action, it is also questionable when will Lo Celso be fit enough for that... Once more - he has been here already for 19 months but has been fit for like 2,5 of those (he was capable of finishing 90 minutes in EPL from 22.01-01.03.2020 & again 23.06-26.07.2020?!?). So very, very big issues and warning signals around that.
That formation is too narrow imo. We don't have the LB and RB to pull it off against a decent team

If one relied on only your opinion, they would think GLC was the second coming of Armando

I remember reading that players improve when injured. What they meant was in the eyes of fans. Whilst all the players actually playing at the moment are getting slated, those out of the team are hailed as the saviour including the likes of Skip on loan. Just wait until they get in the team and the comments will change.

Or you could just go back through this thread for the 3-4 month period at the back end of last season when he was our MotM almost every game - perhaps that would be a better reference point?

Considering how many likes and agrees I get when talking about him it seems I am far from the only one.

I'd say there's an element of Gio in which he's betrayed by his appearance. He's built like a clever one-touch 'Pep' type player. However, in reality, he's absolutely not.

All his best moments are surging runs...He's excellent at carrying the ball and a lot quicker than I expected. However, his delivery, creativity and interplay leaves a bit to be desired.

Watching Bernando Silva last night should be enough to open our eyes.

I think he's great at passing forward and getting the ball out to the wings for a cross back in. Him and Aurier did some pretty neat work together last season. He's not too shabby defensively either. I can't wait for him to be back on with a regular run of games.
