Opposition players do not have to foul Vicario though; they just stand there and he panics and flaps at the ball. I'm dreading it because that's what they will do and neither Vicario or the defence will do anything to stop it.
Maybe not. But the video posted is a blatant foul.
Have we conceded a goal from a set piece this season due to Vicario panicking because a player stands there?
Not from my knowledge.
I don't agree that if he was more forceful a pen would be given; or it wouldn't if he does it before the corner is taken. Other keepers make their presence felt before the corner is taken, a bit or argy-bargy takes place and the ref blows up and has a word. Eventually the ref gets fed up and the players move apart, as with two defenders jostling.
Or the referees and officials can do their job and flag up the blatant fouls, I guess.
It shouldn't even have to get to the point where Vicario is needing to put his hands on markers for referees to have a word. That's just advocating shite officiating.
Anyway, hopefully I'm wrong and he plays a blinder. Or they don't get any corners.
Who gives a shit if they do. We're much better at defending set pieces this season and referees have cracked down on blatant fouls for the most part.
