Player Guglielmo Vicario

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Is this what we are desperate to hang out hats on. One good game against a team who weren't trying.

How did the second leg go again?
its better than us keep playing this useless vicario who cant kick a ball properly if his life depended on it. his poor ability on the ball causes us rhythm and momentum problems too. you ever played with donkeys? its pretty much impossible to get any good football going.

and thats just the kicking ability! this useless clown is a gaffe merchant when it comes to crossing and communication! hes a decent shot stopper, thats it! weak at long rangers too!

decent shot stopper, but actually dreadful at everything else.....why is he actually number 1?

There's one thing being incompetent, and making mistakes. He's not good enough end of. But for me it's the way he continually berates younger players in our team when HE fucks up. Instead of holding his hands up, he blames others.

He's spineless and thinks he is far better than he is.

Let's be honest, he's been a clown since he arrived. First season he was all over the place on crosses, way too erratic, he instilled panic in the defence.

I have no idea who scouted him, awful.

As I said a month ago

I never disliked a Spurs player as much as him. Makes countless mistakes and always blames someone else.

Your defense is, frankly, horrible and makes it require a goalkeeper with a strong presence in the box.
Part of what will make a GK be great comes from having a defence that will allow him to predict potential attacking chances.
Your defence allows for too much variety of potential attacks, creating unpredictability and making it more difficult for a GK to know what to expect. It's harder for your GK, whoever he is, to lean on built-up knowledge of what potential attacks his defence will conceed.
It would make the very best struggle.
Regardless, he clearly has been underperforming for you, but for your GK to perform with your defence (regardless of who he will be), he will have to be tremendously good ...

Come on. Name 1 professional GK in the world, who is THAT bad at defending corners. He is a good shotstopper, but behaves like a u13 kid at every cross in his box. Every championship GK would improve that issue.

However, can't stand him.

In his defence, some of those blocks I see from corners would be called fouls outside of the EPL (and even in the UCL).
Even then, you are right, he doesn't command them well enough.
It has to do with a mix of Vicario's own limits and his defence's lack of protection.
Sommer is worse at corners and even at crosses, yet our defence protects him so we end up suffering very little from it.

Looked a bargain in his first season until Guardiola stuck someone on him at corners. Everyone copied it and that was that really. I don't think he's ever fully recovered. I'd say it's severely damaged his confidence and indirectly led to the other dumb stuff like against Fulham.

He made a good save at 1-1 I think but that was ruined with whatever he was doing at the corner for Wham's winner. Embarrassing to see him appealing for a foul.
