Ex-Spurs Player Harry Kane

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Europa League goals are borderline irrelevant, there I'll say that if Beech Beech can't!

If EL goals meant anything, Nicolas Pepe would've been great last season and Borja Mayoral would be an actually useful striker. They don't, you play against loads of rubbish sides with squads worth about 10m in total, and even just half decent players can fill their boots.

The New Narrative #2 From the Kane Cult:

Kane is world class because he's scored x goals and had x assists.

Other stats are irrelevant because they can be manipulated to fit anyone's narrative. Who cares who the opposition is - a goal is a goal!

That said, Carlos Vinicius's 10 goals and 3 assists in 22 apps last season SHOULD NOT be given the same credit as Kane's goals and assists because it was against poor opposition.
Never been more true

The biggest issue I have with Kane physically is his pressing game is sometimes terrible. Which as stated a while back I do think is influenced by his ankle issues and his fear to go in hard on tackles.
Yes, spot on. I think a large part of Kane's decline is because of injuries. He's just not the same player anymore in my view. I was watching older games/highlights and he looks world's apart from what he used to be. He actually had decent explosiveness and was pretty mobile for his size.

What decline? is this your idea of a decline?

2018 - 17 goals
2019 - 18 goals
2020 - 23 goals

Most people would say that's the opposite of a decline ... but hey it's a difficult word

Your view is your view but if you want the views of professionals:

Rooney - "I don't think there's any issue with Kane, he's a top striker. He's probably going to be the one to get closest to Alan Shearer's record in the Premier League"

Bundesliga expert Archie Rhind-Tutt "I would say he is the only England player who would get into the Germany team at present," he said. "He is not particularly popular, but he has a growing respect given his performances against German teams."

Kevin Baxter, sportswriter for the Los Angeles Times "There's no question Kane is one of the elite stars of the game"

"He is a deadly striker, top class," said Matheus Masello

Lucas Civale said: "I consider Kane as one of the top five strikers in the world today. He is absolutely lethal."

But hey NDomBelEnd thinks he's "not the same player anymore" now I wonder who's more likely to be talking bollocks, the pros or the keyboard warrior?

So forget 10 years look at 558 minutes ... Messi is shit as well, Ronaldo he's rubbish, Lukaku total dross ... is this a silly joke now?

Here's what you asked:

"How about explaining how scoring more goals year on year is a decline? let's see how you spin that."

So here's how I responded:

You asked the question, and I responded with stats clearly showing a YoY decline.

So you really are illiterate ..... who knew

Your response is some dodgy stats from a season where Harry has played just 558 minutes ... where you and I have zero clue what the numbers will be at the end of the season ... wtf?

You sir are an idiot ..............

Hahaha you're so emotional Mr Bangkok. Calm down, I was just fucking with you like I usually do. You're too easy to wind up.

My stance has always been that, he's declined since the 17-18 season. From 29 to 30 PL goals to 17, 18, and 23 goals. He looks even worse this season with 1 goal in 7 apps.

Also, 5 goals in 25 apps against the big 4 PL sides since the 17-18 season is poor.

He's still good at scoring against inferior/average teams, but against good opposition, he gets dominated. Great players score and deliver at a good rate regardless of who they're playing.

He's gone from being a elite striker to a flat track bully.

So you being an idiot was "fucking with you" ..... yet another fail I'm afraid.

Decline = go down, yet Kane has got better every year since 2018 ... and here's the thing, if you actually watched Spurs you'd know that 2017/18 was the season where Kane stopped playing just as an out and out striker and instead started to develop his role as a provider not just a goal scorer

Prior to 2018/19 he had a total of 14 EPL assists over 5 seasons since then he's had 20 assists in just three seasons not a decline but in reality a rapid incline ...

Your failed attempt to select one data set over an incredibly short time span, ignore all the other relevant factors that make up a world class striker, and then concluded quite wrongly that Kane is somehow a flat-track-bully?

It's a total abject fail ... give it up.

How does any of this have anything to do with scoring 5 goals in 25 apps against the big 4 teams since the 17/18 season?

Kane is still a world class player and one of the best strikers on the planet. No ifs, no buts. It’s just a fact. Put him a team/squad actually capable of winning trophies like City for instance, you would see Harry score bucket loads and against the top teams regularly. The reason Spurs haven’t won trophies isn’t because of Harry Kane.
