Ex-Spurs Player Harry Kane

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

It's not even half a season yet. And his overall record this season is 9 in 21 which would be respectable for most forwards in a team that has a lot wrong with it, and is very much a work in progress. His best form is coming under Conte and the only person here that will be devastated about it is sammyspurs.
9 in 21

6 against Pacos and Mura

That's not exactly something to crow about

Yes, but he's not even close to playing like that.

Harry Kane of old would have had at least a hat trick today

Even the better players go through periods of bad form at some point. Until Conte came in it was quite clear Harry was playing without any motivation and that was having a massive effect on both him and us. Now he is putting in the effort he's still searching for his best form, but he's already looking much sharper in regards to his movement and overall play.

Still a fair way to go.

Also he could have, and in all honestly, should be facing a 3 game ban

I thought he looked good for 30 minutes with a very well taken goal.

Unfortunately, he looked like his form this season the remaining 60+

I think the long break helped Kane regain some of his fitness/physicality initially but as the game progressed, he lost that sharpness we saw early in the game

I'll definitely take this kind of effort from Kane though, minus the missed sitters.

Solid 7/10 performance today.

Clearly. But he'll get there. Not saying anyone should forget his action some months back, or be happy with his performances and record so far this season. But he still has far too much quality to not come good again, especially under someone like Conte.

Agree. I’ve been really concerned with Kane, even last season but we know he can finish and the goals will come if he’s able to continue todays form

Pleased

This is the key.

If you look at previous games, he wasn't actually missing many chances statistically, because he wasn't as involved in games. He's regaining fitness and confidence gradually under Conte, today we saw him back to his best aside from some missed chances. He's still a player who hasn't quite emerged from the worst period of his career.

The narrative he's physically done though has been shot to bits. Now it'll be 'well he's a shit finisher' when we know that part of his game won't have magically disappeared and like all strikers, will come with a good run of form.

We played some brilliant long passes from the back today on the counter and needed a second fast attacking outlet other than Son. A new striker should be high on the priority list for January.

How? He still is incredibly slow when turning and has problems adjusting his body when the chances fall to him. A big reason why his finishing is poorer right now. Because by the time hes composed himself to have a shot, defenders/goalkeepers have already got in a good position to block it.
