Ex-Spurs Player Harry Kane

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

At that point, was there any actual reason for footballers to NOT vote for Harry Kane, outside of Spurs fans still sour about the summer?
One has 13 goals that werent pens and 9 assists, The other had 23 goals (10 more goals) and 10 assists. Maybe you might want to include both, but Kane ahead of Son makes zero sense this season. If a spurs player had to be picked, it had to be Son. Hence, the voters were stupid.

Agreed with all the niceynicey stuff about both players very good etc.

I don't care if they were pens or not. Penalties are given to the best strikers of the ball. Kane got 17 goals.

and 9 assists, The other had 23 goals (10 more goals) and 10 assists.

Not back in March when they voted, he didn't. That's why I pointed this out before, so that we could discuss it. Back in voting season, Son had 13 and 6, and Kane had 12 and 5 despite taking the first half of the season off and providing oodles of pre-assists and key passes, looking for all the world like the world class player he is and everyone (sane) knows him to be.

So again, what reason was there for footballers to not vote for a world class footballer that had turned his and his team's season around?

Maybe you might want to include both, but Kane ahead of Son makes zero sense this season

I disagree, and I'd point out that the Golden Boot and POTY often do not coincide. That's why KdB won it despite being nowhere near the top scoring chart.

Kane's importance to the team and its performance is a major factor in how many people assess the matter. Son thrived at least partly thanks to Kane's performance, and vice versa. So I don't think there is zero reason for someone to rate his season above Son's, even if there are plenty of reasons to rate the other way around too.

And, again, you and I are discussing end-of-season numbers, not the mid to late March situation that was voted upon.

If a spurs player had to be picked, it had to be Son. Hence, the voters were stupid.

Only if you think top scorer is the only metric by which to select a POTY. Which is funny since Son has won two Tottenham Player of the Season awards where he wasn't our top scorer...

No ones asking you to care.

You did when you brought it up for no good reason, sidestepping the point I made about how the end of season tally doesn't matter to the voting which took place in March.

The rest is just too long to read.

No it's not, it's just pointing out something you don't like and which makes your argument look weak.

If scoring is all that matters, then Kane has been our best player for the last 7 years. If not, then there's no reason to say that rating Kane over Son this season is 'stupid' when the exact same thing could be said of the years that Son won our POTS award but didn't score as many.

I appreciate the 'have a nice day' sentiment but it's kind of negated by the fact you refused to engage anything I said, which does tend to result in a 'shit debate'.

Why?

Back in March, before the games in April, Son had 13 goals and 6 assists, but Harry had 12 and 5 despite taking the first half of the season off and was providing bags of pre-assists as well. Offensively, he was everywhere, doing everything and our form had been resurrected accordingly.

Half the pundits in football were celebrating his return to form and comparing him once again with Lewandowski.

At that point, was there any actual reason for footballers to NOT vote for Harry Kane, outside of Spurs fans still sour about the summer?

Kane still had a great season considering how it started, and Son finished the season magnificently. Both, by the end of the season deserved a nomination. Back in March, it very much looked to everyone except Sammi and KDBB that the king was back.

It's all a non-problem, as far as I can see. We have two world class players. I see only upside.

I agree Harry Kane is by miles the best footballer at Spurs!

Thought he gave a bit of a lazy performance today. Clearly had the most quality on show but got beat in 50/50's by their two buffoons at the back far too often.

He plays for England like we have a Son in the team. None of our wide players make runs in behind like him, yet Kane is always dropping deep the same way he does for Spurs. Those passes aren’t on.

That's why Sterling is such a miss. Say what you like about him, but we're (England) a different team with him in it. And I always think City are a better side with him up front too, even if he does miss some sitters at times.

Criminally under-rated.

Genuine question, has Kane taken a free kick since March when he got one behind the record of most free kicks without scoring? I had a feeling that he didn't take any since then to not break that unwanted record.

Only asking as lots of people have (understandably) made a point that Kane should no longer take free kicks after watching Son score one for his country, but I was already under the impression that he had given them up.
