Ex-Spurs Player Harry Kane

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Why can't you just swallow your pride for once and stop spouting absolute bollocks that even surely you yourself don' believe at this stage. Van Dijk was immense yesterday as he has been all season, hasn't been dribbled past ONCE this season and is favourite next to Messi for the Ballon D'or.
The tackle on Son was fucking savage.

For the purist, Kane should not have started and he would have come as a sub at some stage. But Kane is not that type of player, he needs to start.
We did not lose because Kane started and Lucas didn't. We lost for 2 reasons, mainly players under performed and also some naive tactics like long balls from the back to the attackers were easily dealt with VDV single handedly. The most disappointing was how poor Dele and Eriksen were but nothing new if you look at the whole season and that's why we lost 13 out of 38 matches in the PL. Most losses were by one goal margin, only 3 games by 2 goals margin. Our defence is good but the attackers not delivering, that's the main issue.
We lost CL final 2019, the dream is over. Best chance ever wasn't taken. I wonder when we would have another chance.

Scapegoating the loss on starting Kane is bullshit in my opinion. I'm not defending his performance but I think that blaming this for the loss is just looking for an easy explanation to have the result make more sense.

Moura on a hot streak, yes, but this was no time for emotional choices. You go with your best 11 and he is world-class.

Kane was coming back from injury and likely going to be rusty, but what was the excuse for Eriksen, Son or Dele? It honestly seems to me that (in hindsight) starting Lucas in the place of Dele would have been an even better option than swapping out Kane.

Not even Liverpool have the points shining: the best were the Dutchman and Alisson ... A final eats your nerves and even top players like Eriksen, Son etc. they can play worse than usual. But Kane had a (legitimate) physical condition problem. If he had entered the last 30 minutes with all the tired players he might have made the difference.

He wasn't up to speed last night, but if he was declared fit to play I don't think Pochettino would have left him on the bench. He is the man you would want a half chance to fall to in the box.
It was harsh on Moura obviously, but I don't think there was any way that Kane wouldn' t start last night unless he told MP he could only play 45/60 minutes or whatever.
The gamble didn't pay off, he looked well short of match fit. I don't think you can blame the manager for picking him, but I do think Moura had the right to feel a bit hard done byto be benched.
That's football I suppose...

The important thing isn’t to win (or rather it is important damnation) but to remain at a high level. Inter won the treble in 2010 but has not reached the final stage for 9 years. You came out in the second round a year ago, the final now ... It is important to reach at least the eighth / fourth quarters next year. It means being able to keep the best players or otherwise sell but reinvest in top players.

Managers are paid to take all you have written into considerstion.

Pochettino did and made a call that was placing ridiculous expectations on a player who has enough pressure to deal with

It just rankles. I got no idea what difference if any it would have made.

The truth is Kane behind Moura and Son would have worked better than Alli behind them.

I didn't want him to start, but I still have no complaints... Poch has greater insight and is more qaulified to make that call that I and the many 'experts' in our midst.

He made the wrong call despite all his qualifications. Unless playing him worked? Fill me in on that one..

Same people would have been putting the boot in if we lost and Kane didn't come on for an hour.

And the same people claiming they have no complaints about playing Kane would all be a lot happier if he didn’t play, and Moura and Llorente ground out another victory.......

See, because every time you assume we would have lost anyway, I can assumed we wouldn’t.
Only my assumptions are based on my belief that match fit players at the top of their form are better than unfit ones who have been average for nearly a year.

No right or wrong answers Sammy I don't know what would have happened in an alternate reality , i wanted Kane to start no idea if it was right or wrong to start him.

Watching the game, Harry’s absolute no show, how our attack was compared to the game at the Etihad and Amsterdam, and the result of the game should give you a clue.

If you think Kane played well, and was a threat then good for you.
Personally I don’t remember one shot, pass, cross, flick on, header, tackle, run or any leadership, hold up, influence or drive from him.

I remember one dive though.

Personally I’ve preferred Llorente and Mouras contribution to our quarter and semi finals than I did Kane in the final.

But if you don’t know, you don’t know.

Easy to say that with hindsight tho, innit...

I believe he was left on cos the boy is a lethal finisher and Poch knew we'd likely go route one sooner or later if our attacking play continued to not click.... Ultimately, I don't think HK was significantly worse than the other lads in attack so don't feel inclined to call him/Poch out over it.

Nowhere did I say it "worked", mind.
