Ex-Spurs Player Harry Kane

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Harry Kane won't leave after meeting with NES. He loves Spurs, Spurs loves him. I think we'll have to come up with a lucrative contract for Harry but he'll definitely stay, especially now Messi will turn Pep's head.

We've made some shrewd signings in this window and I'm excited for the new season.

It is what you said. You're not impressed by tap-ins.
Nope, what I said was:
It's their jobs and they are literally the tip of the attacking spear. If they tap them in effectively then great. But the goals are created elsewhere.
and you disingenuously turned that into:
So Harry Kane is a tap-in merchant. Got it.

It is also incredibly over-simplified and ironic. ironic because it has the tone of someone thinking they are providing insight and education, whilst also ignoring the fact that you can't easily replace goal scorers (who also happen to lead the league in assists).
It is insightful and educational. But you need to unlearn what you think you know about the game and look at it a different way. But don't do it on my urging. When you finally realize the truth then pour one out for me.

And replacing goal scorers thing: you didn't comment on my Harry to WBA point. Feel free to show me how goals are an intrinsic quality of a player. If it is then perhaps it can be taught. Otherwise it's some magical quality that only some are born with.
You tell me since it's your argument.
Nope. I asked you. Feel free to watch Harry's 100 goals and actually take it in. He's a striker, he's there in the box to put in the goals created by other people. Does he do it better than many other strikers? Yes, but don't overrate a player for doing their job. And as has been pointed out many times on here, and the stats bear it out, he is actually not that clinically efficient a striker.

I'm just not willing to forego reality and pretend like he's just another striker.
Most strikers are just another striker in my estimation. Harry at WBA would be lost. Harry at City will bang them in. Young Messi at WBA would still be a threat because of his actual intrinsic qualities as a player. Harry possesses no threat, nothing a defender needs to fear. And many CBs from the Euros would concur. Harry is a smart and determined players but that's not going to scare any top level CB. You need threat elsewhere to take away their attention. Someone like Lukaku has threat. He has things (strength being one of them and speed another) that would make CBs worry.

We can and will survive without him. That doesn't mean his impact is easily replaced.
I've been looking forward to the day he moves on because I've felt his loss can be replaced if done right ie fill out the squad and increase the threat in multiple positions.

You may not rate strikers, but you know who does?

Football clubs.
Many overrate them to their detriment. And my admonition was about overrating what they do or rating them solely on goals. There more to the position.

As I'm not reading this thread, this may have already been posted, so apologies in advance, but a Villa supporter tweeted this remark - "going to Man C to win trophies is like losing your virginity to a prostitute!"

But none of that matters as this is what we have. This is our starting point, a new DoF and a new head coach.
Convenient to begin the clock now so you can bash Harry for 'putting us in this spot' when the truth is we've had time. So he need not remain another year to make you happy. If you got a problem with it then blame Levy.

Levy didn't fuck the Bale deal and didn't fuck the Modric deal, got massive fees for both from non-PL rival clubs.
Yeah? So we rebuilt well then? Or was it Poch that saved his bacon and salvaged things?

Whatever anyone says about the reinvestment of the funds (a lot has been said so will not bring up again) we did improve after both were sold.
We improved? Stretching that timeline of evaluation though aren't you? I could say that no matter what you think of AVB's time here we improved afterward...if I want to be overly generous. And beyond that just because someone happens after another thing doesn't mean there is a causal relationship.

You don’t mean taking blood money too though do you. Because we could do with city’s 150m blood ££. We are against teams spending it but not teams accepting it.
Even though they can only spend the blood ££ if a team accepts it. That’s where we stand right?
Yes. City need to be blackballed and teams need to state why it will soon spread and no one will do business with them.

We were the trailblazers for signing Argentinians with Ricky Villa and Ossie Ardiles. Messi,
I’m sure is itching to follow in the footsteps of his compatriots. Let’s get Messi in and let Harry fuck off to wherever he wants.

I'm not bashing Harry for putting us in the spot.

However you cut it we've improved incrementally, with the only drop in the last almost 20yrs has come with Poch lowest league position of 4th following 3rd, 2nd, 3rd and no signs of improvement in his first handful of games into a new season. The monumental drop of all with the dinosaur, terrible appointment that more than half the fanbase raved about when it happened and claimed we were going to win the league.

There's loads of nuance in here that will deflect the thread from Kane.

But you seem keen on selling him now and going with Levy's plan and choice of player that he and he alone has spent the last year scouting with targeting???

I love that Redknapp is leaning out of a car window for the picture they used.

Also, has Harry handed in a transfer request yet?

Kane must not play before the international break meaning he does not play for England. It is looking more likely that an acceptable bid will not come in. Kane needs to beg forgiveness from his teammates. I will never sing ' he is one of our own again' and it will take a long time to forgive him.
He has got this so wrong.

His cringe manufactured apology will be sickening

Different player, Lewandowski plays in a much better team, is perhaps a better finisher but Kane is more all round, can do both the 9 role and 10 role and that is quite unique. City with Kane would be a nightmare to play against.

Lewandowski is just as great in Poland, a team with far inferior squad than England & Tottenham. Maybe Kane is more complete, but so is Benzema and neither is rated higher than Lewy.

City would be a nightmare with any world class striker lol.

It's a gamble, but it may pay off financially. At this point in time, only City have shown interest because all the traditional big spenders, and I'm talking about RM & Barca, are massively cash strapped. In a season's time, they may have a better handle on their finances. RM in particular will be looking to replace Benzema, who's going to be knocking on the door of 35 years old next season.

Age is just a number. Benzema is Real Madrid's best player by a gigantic landslide, surrounded by players either failing to fulfil the potential they were being hyped to have, nearing the end of their careers or just simply not good enough.

Last season, Benzema was Real Madrid's top scorer with 30 goals. Nobody else reached double digits! Second top scorer only got 7 goals total. That's how lackluster this Real Madrid attack currently is at the moment. There's no chance Benzema will be replaced this soon.
