Ex-Spurs Player Harry Kane

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

No because Ronaldo is world class. He still has a low shot accuracy accuracy though.

So Kane scoring the same number of goals per game as Ronaldo did aged 28 (more per game than he did in his first EPL spell at Utd) makes him average, but it made Ronaldo world class at that age?

Ronaldo is now on a different level, one which Kane and nearly every other striker will not get near, but that doesn't make the EPL's three time Golden Boot winner an average player ... not even when you repeat it 100 times.

Good old Auntie BBC would have had more credibility if they'd have published this article 2 weeks ago, before Kane woke up & started to play:

You're a bit late, Beeb. Harry's back and he's firing on all cylinders - time for an ankle injury.

Two decades of playing like this is one reason why Ronaldo is world class.
His low shot accuracy doesn’t change that.

Kane without goals is a few nice long balls

It’s YouTube so you can’t judge Ronaldo

3….2….1

And it was 3-2, not 4-2.

Jesus, wake up and check this thread and the low shot accuracy myth is still being peddled based on a single season when it was slightly lower than normal. It being low is based on one season where it dropped to 39%, which is barely even notable.

His career average in the league is 44%. That isn’t low, it’s normal. So far this season it is 53% and will probably end in the 40’s range.

It’s such a proven non existent point, baffling it’s still being used.

They've run out of things to whip him with.

They've run out of things to whip him with.

The reason it dropped in the first place is likely because as a player under Jose he dropped deeper, thus took on more long range efforts than he has in previous seasons, so his average dipped slightly. He pretty much played as a 10/striker hybrid at times last season.

And #10's (shock horror) have a lower shot accuracy. But no, it must mean he just became worse at shooting for a season, or whatever.

But would you remember all that if Kane finished the season on 5 goals?

That's not relevant to the fact that Kane has exceptional passing range and his hold up play certainly isn't poor either. The way you talk about him you'd think he was some sort of limited poacher who only ever scores tap in's and headers.

His pressing game is poor and he lacks dribbling ability/pace, but he has numerous aspects to his game other than goals. Only offering goals describes Ronaldo in 2021 far more than it does Kane.

You said he didn’t

He doesn't, not when you look at his career, or even this season. He had a singular season where it dropped to a level slightly lower than other strikers, which can be explained pretty easily by a change in role.

But you keep going on about that one season, because if you look at his career % you have no point because it isn't low, and if you talked about this season, it's actually high. So you've picked the one stat which works with your confirmation bias and you're running with it.

De Bruyne has a shot accuracy of 35%. He has the best shooting technique in the league. He plays deeper so the shot accuracy is lower. Kane played deeper last season than usual so his shot accuracy dropped a bit.

It's really not that hard to just apply context to stats.

What a weird way to misrepresent quotes. I'll make it simple for you.

He doesn't have a low career shot accuracy, 44% is normal. Last season it dropped to lower than his usual % because of a role change, and it's risen again so far this season. You have no point here other than identifying Kane dropped a bit deeper.

39% isn't low for a player who played the role he did under Jose.
