Ex-Spurs Player Harry Kane

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

xG is great when used correctly. For some reason some fans are really sceptical of it, but the fact is that it's a big part of football at the top level, and the best way to analyse what kind of chances a team creates/of what quality they are. It's very useful for showing when fans say a miss was a 'sitter' when really the analytics show it was a hard chance.

Here's Tuchel (probably one of the most progressive, most analytical coaches in football history) referencing it:

Klopp has done the same before, and there's another clip where Wenger discusses it. Most clubs use this stuff now, seems to be a dirty term on here for some reason, football fans need to catch up!

Still prefer to go with my own eyes. If I say someone has missed what I believe is a sitter, xG can suck my nutsack.

I think part of the scepticism is born of the fact that it's used to excuse losses a hell of a lot of the time.... Particularly in the context of the pro's..... Likely wouldn't even both to mention xG if they'd won.

Another factor is there's a degree of mystique about how things like xG are measured and when those citing it are asked you often hear different metrics cited.

The fact that we get win probability %s quoted during in matches these days makes me wanna smash my laptop.

Certainly shouldn't be used to excuse losses. If you lose and have a high xG you've still failed to make the best of your chances which is a part of football, so it's still on the players out there. All it should be used for is to show who is carving out the better chances in a general sense. It isn't entirely accurate, all statistics are mostly useless without context.

I think the industry accepted standard was posted earlier and that's what I go by, and it seems a reasonable form of analysis. Again not ideal. And win % probability is bullshit for sure..

I feel like it’s Eriksen all over again with Harry. He didn’t play bad against West Ham and he had a good shot saved but you just feel he’s not giving it his all and has another gear or two. Really disappoint to see

Imagine still defending Levy after all that’s happening at our club

Oh wait… I know why
Levy can do one, but it’s time to accept Kane is done
There will be no late flourish and golden boot this season, and there will be no walking into City and scoring 45 goals.

The player is done. What you saw yesterday is Kane most weeks, but scoring or assisting has masked those terrible overall performances for too many for too long

do think he is done as player
maybe he has lost that spark, but he can still do it, its not injuires that have caught up with him (not yet anyway)
thinks its that he is cheesed of with Levy and being stuck here, he believes he had agreement for a longer holiday and would be allowed to leave, he thinks Levy has gone back on his work, why would he (or any of us) give his best to help Levy/club
most of us have to swallow when treated like this at work we are not millionaries, he has millions he can afford to stay cheesed off

I think he's just in a poor form like the rest of the team

We have much bigger problems to address bar Kane, imv - such as our non-existent paper-strong midfield , lack of attacking width, no CF cover and poor defensive decisions

We are rudderless as a club from top to bottom - I am genuinely scared of doing a Villa now except they didn't have 1bn in debt on a new stadium

Does anybody seriously blame Kane for wanting to leave? The club is in utter shambles. Theres fuck all direction from the owners. You may dislike Kane now but you cant dispute his goal scoring ability. He’ll waste the prime of his career, win absolutely fuck all, and will never be remembered in sporting memories.

Should have took the money and moved on.
Don't blame him for wanting to leave but I do blame him for making no effort.
He was shocking yesterday.

Agree with most of what you said but we won't do a villa we're 6th not 16th.

We need changes though

I don't think we will do a villa, but think we can all see we only have 11/13 playersthat we can put out into an EPL team with a chance to win the game, we have a pile of deadwood of weak players who give nothing to the team, those in change of scouting and signing players over the years should have been sacked,
you can't get them all right 1 in 2 right would be good, but we seem to have wasted most of our transfer money

He was shocking yesterday.
With the exception of a couple of games, he has been shocking all season.

He's always gone through hot and cold patches throughout his career but this time it just feels different. Now that we all know he doesn't want to be here, is he really going to make the effort under a shite manager promoting shite football?

why should he make an effort ? He believes Levy has had him over, he is now waiting to move on
remember the amout of times he has pushed himself to get fit to play for us, he has put effort in and repaid by Levy like this in the summer, would you be bothered ? (Kane thinks Levy has had him over)

Simply because that's his job, he gets paid to play football.
What would happen to you if you made no effort at work? A bollocking...the bullet?
Kane is accountable for his actions as everyone else is.

most people can't afford to be seen to be making no effort at work (even if boss has been a right B) Kane can afford to down tools, what can the club do to him, ( make him train alone, make him train in afternoons Big deal)

I think he thinks he can still move in January; if he doesn't go to City in January then he doesn't go to City. They'll go for Haaland, cheaper, potentially better and with a longer shelf life.

Kane looks like he is playing within himself, he touch and control and usual sharpness are nowhere to be be seen. He must not be training properly and that along is reason to bench him.

He was out most creative player last year and as a prolific striker (with no back up) ludicrous to suggest but it's not working.

He lacks hunger and passion.

I think we’re running out of people who are a distinct cause of our regression

Dele, Eriksen, Sissoko, Winks, Trippier, Poch, Jose, Davies, Mason Jose, Aurier, Rose.

That leaves Dier, Levy and Kane
Two aren’t responsible for shit shooting
