Ex-Spurs Player Harry Kane

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Dier is arguably better. Son has scored a few for SK.

Fuck it, even Lloris would probably be better.
Best I can tell from some quick searches is he has scored ONE direct free kick back six years ago and it took a deflection to go in. That’s just utter stupidity that we continue to let him take them. Absolutely anyone can do just as poor as him on free kicks. Here Is hoping Conte tells him to just pack it in.

Can't really say that. When he was under Mourinho he really played good team ball. When Eriksen was here, he really didn't take FK much.
because Mourinho moved him into a position where he had to pass.

Eriksen is gone and now Kane is taking most free kicks even though he is useless. Both Dier and Son are better options. Kane is deluded if he believes that he is suddenly going to become a free kick expert by wasting every good opportunity.

I think our situation is comparable to the AVB and latter Redknapp era in a lot of ways, or at least has been before Conte made some drastic changes in our over all approach

But if you take that era, we had a prime Bale quite literally taking the game on by himself on so manny occasions and single handedly winning it for us while the team plodded around in very similar fashion to today’s players.

Kane has never been on that level when times are tough. It’s a cold truth.

Prime era Bale only every did that consistently for one season. He was unplayable that year at times. Kane is not as explosive but he's been consistent and always among the goals. Otherwise Bale would have huge numbers of PL goal, wouldn't he, instead of just 53. 11 of which he scored last season.

Bale has scored 81 league goals in La Liga, in the same amount of time that Kane has scored 165. In a harder league.

Bale left us at around 23yrs old, just coming into his peak and started life as a 17yr old LB.
He was never an out an out striker.

Had he stayed and peaked in the PL, instead of Real and stayed injury free, I’m pretty sure he’d have more goals in the PL no?

The point wasn’t a comparison to how many goals he and Kane have scored, it was just about the simple fact Bale was a genuine game changer on a level we haven’t had since

I don't disagree. Fuck me.

There's two places/situations I'd want Kane over Bale - penalties and when there's a big chance in the box.

Otherwise prime Bale in every other situation.

Can't believe Kane was never as good as prime Bale who earned a move to the biggest club in the world for a record fee after having one of the best seasons of any player in PL history.

Thought it was an excellent CF performance, especially physically he looked great considering how much people have criticised him in that department of late.

Passing was a bit off though, especially first half.
First half Southampton's press, especially on our forwards (Kane + Son) was ultra-aggressive and worked a treat for them, both weren't allowed to get on the ball and bring others into play as they were harrassed the moment they got on the ball.

My guess was that Southampton wouldn't have kept that up for the 2nd half (they have faded in almost every game they have played considering the most 2nd half goals than any other team) and I expected us to exploit this as the game went on.

The game state however completely changed following the red card, where they dropped into a low-block from that moment. Feel also that Conte has spent so much of his time with the side working on counter-attacks that perhaps he hasn't had long enough with the team to work on patterns to break down low blocks(???).

He looked physically done during the second half. He had barely any lift in his headers and getting knocked off balance with slight touches. Let’s see what happens this these stretch of upcoming games. That’ll be the real test to see if he still has it physically over the course of a PL season and not reaping the benefits of 2 weeks off during the middle of the season.

Bale didn't have the benefit of being the striker. Remember the kind of goals he scored? Not nearly as many easy goals as Kane has scored.

Same with his role at Real where the striker got most of the goals.

I think what ever happens mate, you have you’re mind set on Kane and clearly you just don’t rate him as a player. The majority of us here still think he’s world class. He’s been a lot better since Conte has come in and is slowly looking like the Old Kane. The goal that should have been v Southampton was an outstanding goal. That was harry Kane all over.
