Ex-Spurs Player Harry Winks

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Was better than skipp and hojberg combined. Disgraceful the treatment he gets as a youth product. Agree he might not be the answer but I cant get my head around the hate for a player that has been at the club since 10

His first touch and weight of pass is miles better than Hojbjerg to be honest. I could definitely see this happening. We are going to win the league with Skipp and Winks in the engine room.
If that opens Pierre up to pressing higher up similarly to Goretzka at Bayern then I am all for it.

Flick's Bayern used Kimmich as the deep lying playmaker and Goretzka as a "offensive DM" to great effect.

He's gonna become a mainstay under Conte and this place is gonna explode with rage and I'm totally here for it :D
So much salt, it will be glorious!!

Just because he didnt make a major fuckup in the 10-15 minutes this one time..

"When Winks becomes the next modric and win the leagues, all the haters are going to cry"

Giving him credit for last night shows the level of insanity among Spurs fans.
7 minutes 10 v 11
4 minutes 10 v 10
10 minutes 10 v 9

Of those 21 long minutes, given the 2 red cards the ball was probably only in play for 17-18 and of those, Harry Kane probably wasted 7 or 8 backing into defenders to get fouled.

So yeah, Winks in a mostly 10 v 9 situation against a 3rd rate Dutch club did OK. By which he didn't really make himself look like a total bellend for once.

Sort yourselves out ffs.

Agree with this totally but I actually thought that Skipp was good in the first half.

The problem with the game in general yesterday was that if you watched every individual player, no one else, just them, each played reasonably well. The issue lies very much in the balance of the team, the collective.

This balance is disrupted with the lack of pressing done by initially by Kane, then Lucas and Son get gassed whilst they cover Kane's lack of pressing, so you end up with a front 3 not pressing at all, which enables the oppo to play through us with ease, the midfield then are outnumbered, covering huge spaces, they too getting more and more gassed, making it easier and easier for the oppo, this also means the defence is then pulled out of shape, unsure of to stick with their man or drop off.

Conte's work is going to be improving the balance and shape of the team, he has a history of achieving this in very short time frames so hoping that there's no difference with us.

I'm not quite sure what his solution will be around Kane's lack of pressing, he would appear to be a fan of him and want him on the pitch rather than have him press for 45mins, get us in the lead, then make a sub, say someone like Dele who is our best presser. (Lucas is also a great presser but does so in straight lines so is still bypassed). But without our forwards pressing everything then turns to shit, or we have to go back to a mid or low block team.

There was evidence last night that Conte wants us to playout from the back, this is where Winks is better than PEH and why he may get the nod. But I back Conte to find a better solution than we've had in the last 3 seasons.

Have you never seen Winks repeatedly pass the ball straight back to whatever CB gave it to him? That's why his pass success rate was so high. Conte is never gonna tolerate that shit.

He could adapt the pressing system I guess. Have Kane drop deep and let someone like Hojbjerg or Skipp take his place in the initial press. Or use Harry like how Valverde used Suarez, and have him cut off passing lanes rather than press the player with the ball.

I am confident that Antonio will find a solution.
