TS on `tv this morning telling all "someone is telling porkies" (regarding the FDB affair) this clearly (undermining the Club) and making a point, the fans coming first. He must feel isolated wanting the fans to support his view and condemn the clubs recent actions. I admire his energy.

IMO playing Gerrard defensively in front of the back 4 was a very good move. Apart form this the rest was serendipitous (and an injury free season) - This happens when you have a happy club and the team is playing consistently well. He should take some credit for this?
Gerrard is almost 34 and like most great mids was given the option of part time involvemnt in his natural position / bench or defensive mid. I was specifically referring to the Sturridge and Sterling comments.

Making Sturridge second topscorer, Sterling looks a great talent. Gave Henderson confidence and a role he is good/better at.

Apart from these things, not much.
So in other words - he put them in the starting 11? This is similar to suggesting AVB made Bale an 80m player - he had all the talent - we simply played him in his best role and reaped the benefits.

And NO european football has done them the world of good. I wager if they were in the EL this year they would be 4th, 5th or 6th.

Not big fan of Sturridge average player. They will bring in better to improve, he will hardly play and move on. Sterling, young and eager and seems enthusiastic. Again not a big fan, a little predicable, especially as defenders are now aware of him. Both players are in a good well oiled football machine. Let's see next season?

So what does a manager do then? Simply putting a player in the starting 11 doesn't make them good all of a sudden.

Also, 'we' didn't do anything with Bale, Harry and AVB did.

My point was - just about any manager would play his best players - who would have left Sterling and Sturridge on the bench?

Look at someone like Barkley for example - Moyes didn't rate him much but Martinez put faith in the youngster and paid off massively. Same with Bentaleb to a degree. Picking the best players in your starting 11 is not good management for me - but rather the bare minimum. The original point alluded to how Rodgers has transformed Sterling and Sturridge

Oh man I could not disagree more. I rated Sturridge quite highly even when he was getting brief cameos at Chelsea and thought they were feckin crazy for continuing to play Torres over him at the time. Sure enough, he goes on to Liverpool that winter and on top of the creative infusion of Coutinho goes on to become one of the best strikers in the league. Incredible athlete with fantastic footwork and keen knowledge of where the goal is from any point on the pitch.

While I think Rodgers is a better manager than Arc's giving him credit for, the extent of the quality I see in Sturridge frankly lends credence to Arc's point about simply being given a high degree of individual talents.

ArcspacE ArcspacE obviously thinks tactics aren't necessary and a good system aren't necessary.

Either that or he's trolling. But I find that highly unlikely.

Not everyone who disagrees with your opinion is trolling, you melt. Yes, playing Sturridge and Suarez is ground-braking tactics indeed. Do you actually have anything to add to this debate which does not involve a .gif or a 'joke'? The topic is quite interesting and both side have presented valid arguments in a civilised manner.

So you don't think tactics and a good system are an important part of Liverpool's success over the last 12 months? How about you tell us in a civilized manner all about that. They were without Sturridge for several weeks and still raped several teams. It's not just about the players.

Come on now Suarez, Sturridge and Sterling all in varying degrees have some disciplinary issues, plus Henderson was a joke, Gerrard was creaking last year, Rodgers HAS to have contributed to making this lot into a very well oiled machine if you left that 11 to it after Suarez was biting arms they would not be top of the league

Would be interesting to know who's behind Suarez completely dialling down his cuntness, he still dives but nowhere near to the level he was before and he seems to have cut out the vast majority of his wanker behaviour during matches.

Not saying he's completely clean now, before someone posts a gif etc., but he's not on the level he was before this season. If that's down to Rodgers, I'd say that's one of his biggest achievements.

Henderson was on his way out of the club last January, but he managed to stay. He then turned around his fate at the end of last season and put in some top notch performances.

Rodgers does more than just pick the starting XI, he ensures that they're all motivated for each, and have the confidence to go out there and perform. He's been a revelation.
