Transfers Have We Signed Gareth Bale Yet?

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Who says he's coming back just to play....
Maybe they have a coaching role lined up for him!
(It wouldn't hurt having him on Free kick training during the week!!)

At least those so vehemently against the idea of Mason anywhere near the training pitch surely wouldn't have a problem with Bale's experience!!!

With the exception of Bale, the other two won’t be free. You just end up paying the money you would have paid to the selling club to the player and his agent through sign on fees and higher wages.

People who think Bale has unfinished business at WHL, I am almost certain you are wrong. He has unfinished business with Wales and needs a club to help him do that.

I was a big fan of Bale including his second coming. But a third? No thanks.

It’s clear he’s never going to play 90mins unless injuries screw us, however he’s a true professional, trains exceptionally hard and keeps his head down. Others in and around the team could learn a lot for him. As a sub coming on at the 60min mark I can see it working.

Whilst a different sort of player, look at the role Milner has played for pool over the last few seasons… as training methods, science, recovery and nutrition improve it’s not unreasonable to see the average age of footballers retiring climb.

The Bale re-re-signing feels alot like the Ronaldo > Man Utd last summer...

the feelgood factor it might create, will surely wear off (as it has at Utd) but the 'character/charisma' factor and positive influence* it has on the younger players can't be ruled out...

*although, some might argue that Ronaldo's 'influence' has had a little too much impact on Mason Greenwood... if you know what I mean?

Hmmm....you could argue that it did have an influence allegedly....😏

I just don’t understand the point of signing a player who will never play. He could never survive Conte’s training.

Are you assuming that training with Ancelotti at one of the world's biggest clubs, who's easily clear at the top of the league, is five minutes of running and then all-you-can-eat churros?

Regardless of whether Real are saddled with a huge wage, if Bale couldn't handle training, he'd be nowhere near the squad at that big a club.

You do realise he's not played a single league game since 28/08/21.... 3 appearances (193mins) in all comps so far this season.

In 19/20 - i.e. his last full season at RM - he managed 20 appearances (1260mins) in all comps.

........That Gareth Bale.

Bale already had a negative influence on locelso. Using us to get fit for his national team.

Oh sorry I thought you meant the Gareth Bale who had the highest number of goal involvements in the PL per minute on the pitch by miles last season and the second highest ever in the PL

……That Gareth Bale.

Yes he has been injured this year but keep him fit and I would rather have him than Bergwijn or Moura any day

Seems you completely disregarded the post I was replying to..... Context is our friend.

Yes, I do. He's injury-prone for sure. As such I agree with what many have already said, if the club does it, then it should be, at the very least in large part, a pay as play deal. Still, it's neither here nor there. It wasn't what I was replying to or what I was saying.

I feel it's safe to assume, that Real have the best people and equipment to assess players and their fitness levels that money can buy. If Bale wasn't up to football at the very top level, then he wouldn't have made 3 appearances since August 2021 at a club of Real's size, but instead zero. They would have worked to move him on (even if it took paying a very large chunk of his wages), or worked to secure a mutual termination, or failing in those two options, then simply cut him from the squad. They're not filling a spot in a 25-man squad (in covid-times no less) just because.

I fully agree that his injury record, and therefore his appearances record, in recent years is a red flag, and we should proceed with that in mind. Still, it wasn't what I was talking about, even if you want to twist it that way. So my point remains.
