He's not, but you also don't need 10 James Maddison's in your team.

We need players who can unlock defences with weighted passes and the like, which somebody like Eze would help with. We also need wingers like Johnson who have a knack for getting on the end of things and setting up scoring chances with low crosses, being a feature of how Ange likes to attack. But we also need wingers not like Johnson, who are tricky and able to beat their man, which is another feature of Angeball and something we currently lack. Different tools for different jobs.

There's a place for Johnson I think, the issue was that he was asked to play far more than would have been intended in his first season due to long-term injuries. The times he was able to come off the bench and attack tiring defences, more often than not he had an impact. More of that with better quality starting ahead of him would be fine.
yea theres a place for him, hed be good to bring on when the games open up a bit and theres space. but him starting every game when you already have son in the front 3 who also struggles at the intricate side of the game is frustrating to watch.

We might have too many strikers if we only play 1 in our system. Richarlison, Lankshear, Veliz, Scarlett. Think at least 1 will have to go.
I suspect Lankshear will definitely go on loan. It's been reported there's significant interest in him, including from Championship clubs.

If we sign a striker which you'd like to think is probable, then one of Veliz or Scarlett will likely be off as well.

Final Summary:

  • Young guns outshone so called senior players by a country mile!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Final ball /passing / crossing young guns wow, the forward passing an intensity on an off the ball is what you expect from 1st team , young guns did themselves proud
  • Bergval pure eriksen vibes!!!!!
  • Lamal who????? its all about Mickey Moore ... well done laddy!!!
  • Lankshear looks like a predator.... very very promising
  • Spence, well done credit where credit is due!!👏👏👏👏 Intelligent running on & off tha ball, supported others on wing brilliantly, showed composure an willingness to fight for team.. done himself proud
  • Good positive display from devine, phillips, tyrese, robson donely
  • Timo final ball n passing is so school boy at times lost the ball so much, it what id expect off the young guns but they were far more composed & intelligent (Same about Solomon too)
  • Gray in 1st half WOW, 40M already seems justified, & can only get better.

Holy shit what a second half.

- Bergvall is that guy. Absolutely ran the show, front to back, wants to get on the ball & move it forward. Can do absolutely everything that kid. Massive talent.

- Lankshear, some real presence up top, you rarely see that level of hold up play in a teenager. Lovely finish too.

- Moore, what a player. Played on the wrong wing and still caused them loads of problems. Insane talent for 16.

- Devine, some lovely bits of play, started the move for both Moore's and Spence's goals with some lovely progressive passes.

- Hall, such a mature performance for a 16 year old too.

- Spence, we HAVE to have more of a look at him this pre season, suited that inverted role like a glove. Thank God Genoa didn't take up that option because £8m is an utter steal.

- Phillips, looked like Van Dijk out there. Monster for 18, and much better on the ball than I'd given him credit for.

- Robson too at LB, some very nice moments.

Just incredible overall. What an exciting time to be a Spurs fan, what an exciting group of kids.

Hall is 19 in a few months time.

But yes, he's really good

We have some amazing young players wow.
Only preseason against hearts but some real standout performances for Gray, Devine, Bergvall, Moore,

3 things I noticed.

1. Having a natural CF forward improves your attack.

2. Having a natural CB improves your defence.

3. We have some good talent on our books.

Also if you wanna get shat on by a seagull while watching football.......

Agree. As Ange has said, this squad needs a few transfer windows. Last season we would have started with Son, Kulu, Johnson, Soloman and Perisic as wide options, but with the last two going down for essentially the season, Johnson was thrust in to playing far more minutes than I think was expected. Richy being out for periods of time only exacerbated this, because with Son moving central it basically just left just Kulu and Johnson until Werner came in. I'm not even counting Gil.

So we need more options but we also need better options. Replacing Solomon with proven quality (Neto?) would be a great place to start.
