Match Hearts vs Spurs Wed 17th July 19.00pm

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

It’s pre season and at this moment we will be going into the Leicester game with Sonny,Deki and Johnson as our front three. Don’t know how injured Richy is but he is on his way out in my opinion. Tonight showed we have some very good youngsters and hopefully the likes of Lankshear and Moore get a chance this season but too many get carried away. Hearts second half team was much weaker than their first half team so that shows what we were playing against. Would like to see them get a chance in against the likes of Bayern but it will be the usual 4 or 5 fighting for the three front positions unless we sign someone. This season I think we’ll be good to watch but ultimately will be similar to last season with that front line. Our front players still giving the ball away and it breaking down too much against Hearts gives me the fear if we don’t sign a striker and winger.

We need two new attackers. If not it will be the same as last season. It’s as clear as day.

You never know, sometimes the penny just drops. Although we were still trying to sort a fee out with Genoa only a week or so ago, so who knows.
True on the point that players mature as people at different rates. Jonjo Shelvey didn't "settle" down until he was in his later 20s wasn't he? And he's still a bit of a hot head that wears out his welcome eventually.

That was a very encouraging outing. Gray and Bergvall look like terrific signings. The confidence, energy and talent of the young lads like Moore bodes well for the future.

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves though. Hearts are a poor side. They also substituted their entire team at half time. It’s fair to assume that they would not have much depth in their squad, and if their first team is poor, their second team would be keystone cops bad. Factor that in and we maybe need to temper our view of how good we looked in the second half.

Nevertheless, entertaining stuff and roll on QPR.

What?

No they didn't, they brought on three players at half time. Two of which:

Zander Clark - their starting GK who got the second most cleansheets last season.

Lawrence Shankland - their top goalscorer last season, and top goalscorer in the league...

They were actually stronger going into the second half. Especially as we replaced our entire team with basically kids.

My mistake. Probably early onset dementia. 🤒

Yes totally agree. Last night was good to see and the comparison with our young players to experienced players is a bit daft though. Pre season is a necessary evil and players take different times to get up to speed. The younger ones will have had less time off and will be sharper and it’s difficult in the first three or 4 friendlies to get your sharpness. Even more so when it’s only part of games they are playing.

What I will say is that it’s hard not to get a wee bit excited when you see the likes of Gray and Bergvall looking like men already. They will play massive parts for us this season.

Didn't get a chance to watch the game.

Can somebody please summarise which players we have now deemed worse than Sunday league players and absolutely must have their contracts terminated immediately because nobody would even give us a Mars bar for them?
Well, Emerson gifted them the goal on a plate!! Probably wanted his price to go down, to get his Milan move!

Game was fun.

Can't read anything into it either way. Other than Mikey Moore at 16 could already play league 1 level and likely score goals. Could he play higher? maybe

Mikey Moore is one of those players I think can do it any level. Sometimes loans can ruin a young player and take all the excitement and confidence out their game especially when the go into the fight that is lower league football. I’d prefer him to be used as a late sub in first team games and maybe get a run out against a weaker side in the europa. Natural ability like that will always shine through even at the top level.

I think it's paramount we either incorporate Mikey Moore into the first team squad this season or get him a Championship loan at a minimum. The lad is mustard, needs to have his development handled right because we're on to a gem with him.
