It's a decent metric to measure pure finishing ability.
I agree and pretty much said the same in my last post just now. It would certainly be daft to use xg to say someone is a better player or more potent attacker. Pure finishing (once one is in the position to shoot) is okay to assess using it though. That should be news to no one. He’s always significantly outperformed his xG.
One thing I don’t like about using xG to decide if someone is a better finisher is that it only counts the shots that happen and does not factor in one players ability to create a shot vs another (well cumulative xG sort of does this but has a ton of variables).
So let’s say Haaland wins a header and puts it on goal and it’s saved but sonny wouldn’t have even won the header… this would count against Haaland but not against son when comparing goals vs xG.
There’s a good argument that son is the best shooter in the world once he gets a sight of goal. But he’s almost certainly not the best finisher if that makes sense because he can’t get on the end of crosses like a bigger CF.
He’s earned the right to be given that honour.Would be happy if that was repurposed for him.
He’s one of our own
He’s one of our own
Heung Min Son
He’s one of our own
(bet he would love it)
Yeah man, 100%Would have happily seen Sonny sold in the Summer.
Delighted to be utterly wrong.
He may not have the pace to get past full backs nowadays, but has unleashed a side to his game I never believed he had (top level interplay = consistently).
Long May it continue.
Seems an absolute Captain, leading by example, gushing positivity and encouragement.
A+ Season so far.
Kane had a great left foot to be fairHe's incredibly two-footed. Always impresses me how well he can shoot from range with either foot.
whats crazy is he has been played out wideScored his 200th goal in European club football today (league and cup games):
20 for Hamburger SV
29 for Bayern Leverkusen
151 for Spurs
It's crazy to think, but if he had played his entire career in the PL then he would have every chance of being the 3rd player to get to 200 PL goals
