Player Heung-Min Son (손흥민)

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Son was really very sharp last night, the best he has looked for months. Was it because....

a) The Swedish team really were totally shite.
b) He knew that he was only playing 45 mins so was not pacing himself (as he has to do now he is older with 2 games per week).
c) He is through his run of bad form.
d) A combination of the above?

1) I think that he looked very sharp also last game against Leicester. That is first half, when a lot of the play also came through him. Second half he was uninvolved after replacing Richarlison as striker. So it could be a form thing.

2) No Kulu and no Madders on the pitch meant that the play had to go through him. When they are on the pitch, they take a lot of ball time and influence away from Son. Kulu and Deki are good but they're no world class player. Who is going to have the most influence is Ange's decision and not Son's. Maybe Ange has simply bet on the wrong horse in Deki. He has made no secret of him preferring young players.

3) Certainly the opposition helped too, but if Son and Deki had been on the pitch at the same time, you can bet that the attacks would've largely gone through Deki and Son would've been anonymous to a large extent. People would've complained how shit he is. how his legs are gone and how he needs to be sold asap. That's just the way it is. Very few are looking for the underlying reason.

Are they twins?
bus-conductor bus-conductor wouldn’t be pleased that we have two of them now.

That's one of the best 45 minutes I've ever seen from Son. Some lovely footwork. He's such an enigmatic player, capable of some outstanding moments, scorer of one the best goals you'll ever see ( the pitch length run v Burnley) but strongly capable of looking like he can't control a ball for weeks on end at times throughout his career.

Bizarrely, I think Ange has probably got him playing some of the more consistent football of his entire career, just a shame it's as his finishing goes to shit. And he's still a chocolate teapot without the ball.

He dribbled past a couple of guys on Elfsborg.

Sure it was a good half, but you are talking about a guy that used to regularly be scoring 2 goals in a half.

He is miles away from the player he was in his prime and if you think this is the most consistent football of his entire career, it’s because it’s consistently average instead of having regular world class moments like he had in the past.

All you haters will miss him when he’s gone.
He could have been like all the rest and fucked off but he didn’t.
LOYALTY
I don’t care even if he gets in into his fat Elvis jumpsuit stage.
A legend forever.

Look dude chill the hell out, we all love Sonny and any sane Spurs fan recognizes him for all that he has done for the club and would label him a true Spurs legend.

The fact is though we are languishing above the relegation zone and Son’s lackluster performances this season have contributed to that position.

He isn’t scoring anymore and he has lost his pace - the Premier League is the most physically demanding league there is and it’s no shame for Sonny to admit he’s maybe not quite up to it anymore.

We need a succession plan for Son and we need it quick, maybe it’s Moore but my view is we need to bring in someone this window or in the summer who can impact the starting 11 right away.

There is a lot of talk of the right wing position being the priority but my view is left wing is just as important to sort out.

You already know the issue. We dont have anyone who can replace him atm. Even with shitty performances, he's still making the most key chances this season. That says something about the quality of this squad.
