Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Apart from the odd occasion, HMS's overall performance was pretty disappointing. It's pretty much a given that he'll blunt an attack by passing it back, or by simply losing the ball. Why can't Ange have the b@lls to bring him on as a 70 minute sub, where I think he could possibly make an impact if used correctly. It's not fair of Ange to keep playing Son this way, given his clear ineffectiveness.

because theres too many south koreans there head to toe in spurs merch. levy is lucky the fanbase is the way it is, any other big club and the proper fans would not of tolerated how shit sons been for a long time now. it sums the club up under levy, a player is not only playing when he shouldnt, hes been given the armband!! hes the polar opposite of what makes a good captain in football! hes being milked dry for his following. they are more interested in milking him than spurs being an actual competitive football team. its a fucking disgrace.

Too bad Ange can’t set him up to receive the ball in isolation more in his favored spot. Underlapping, constantly running forward Udogie gives Son absolutely nothing with which to help work his historical game.

I made the merchandising link some time ago, but didn't want to believe it until I made a rare visit to the club shop, where I saw price lists etc in Korean, and also heard Tannoy announcements in Korean. My little lot all moan about him on matchdays, but we aren't the ones leaving with bags of expensive Spurs goodies. He will definitely be milked until dry.

I think he’s finished as a top player but he’s not helped by having to play wide midfield. You never seeing him running in on goal like he did with Kane…. Stranded out wide, receiving the ball into feet before recycling the ball backwards or worse still, losing it

Hardly go into this thread anymore because some of the posts are both toxic and embarrassing. Not denying his performance has been anything but great, but it's the idiotic Ange persistently not managing his minutes better and wanting him to hug the byline when that's his worse ability, or asking him to play as the central striker which is his 2nd worse ability. I won't be surprised if this could be lowest tally for us ever since he joined, mirroring our shit performances all season. Both him and the team are having a reciprocal effect of each other.

Don't think we will IMO, but if we do go into the final at Bilbao, I hope and I have a feeling he will, score the winner and lift us the trophy.

'Son no longer seems to be indispensable to Spurs'

It was not long ago that substituting forward Son Heung-min while chasing a winner was unthinkable for Tottenham.

However, in the 87th minute against Eintracht Frankfurt, a match the club's own announcer called the "most important game of the season", the South Korea international was taken off for teenage forward Mathys Tel.

The decision by manager Ange Postecoglou was entirely justified as the 32-year-old struggled to impact the game.

From the eye test this season, Son is simply not looking as quick or as sharp as before, therefore, is unable to make runs in behind defences or shift the ball half a yard to score.

Eintracht forward Hugo Ekitike did a Son-like run and shot to open the scoring in the sixth minute before Pedro Porro equalised in the 26th minute.

But Spurs could not get the goal they deserved and Eintracht Frankfurt manager Dino Toppmoller admitted to being a bit "lucky" after the match, adding: "We had their wingers mostly under control."

Postecoglou felt the substitutes made a good impact.

There is no doubt that Son is a Spurs legend as he made his 67th appearance to match Harry Kane at the top of the charts in appearances for the club in Europe.

Yet, unlike Kane, his impact is waning as his speed deserts him.

It is now just one goal in his past 17 games, which was a penalty at home to Bournemouth, and Son no longer seems to be indispensable to Spurs.

A truly top club doesn’t let sentiment, past achievements, or the captain’s armband dictate team selection. They’d manage Son’s minutes based on form and fitness—he wouldn’t be guaranteed a starting spot. Just look at how Man City handle De Bruyne.

the system and setup defo hasnt helped, but son is finished. hes not as sharp as he was physically now, which is what made him a threat. hes was an athlete not a footballer. he was quick and worked on his shooting with both feet, that was his weapon, a little step over and he could go either way which is a nightmare to defend. hes not sharp and strong enough physically to get this off the way he used to. hes fumbling the ball so much its painful to watch.

to play at the top level past 30 you need to be a natural footballer. only the true footballers can do that. bale adapted as he got older, he had a football brain.
