I mean come on even I can't defend the watch thing, just screams loser mentality and a handing out prizes for reaching a final. I guess it wouldn't be a problem if we won from time to time but if your chairman is doing that then what kind of message does that send out?

I will say this though, this coming from Lloris is a bit misplaced because he was here many years and in partly responsible for us not winning, like let's not pretend like he wasn't shit in his last year and was prone to some absolute clangers, he can talk about having a losing mentality all he wants but he was part of this leadership group which led us to our worst finish since 2008 so how about that...

did he ever put up a bad performance in a final for us?

i remember he played quite well during that CL run, obviously the Aguero pen save was instrumental also
 
Hugo is addressing exactly what Conte was famously ranting about. The man in charge has a small club, loser mentality. A chairman who is truly driven to win would never hand out those fucking watches before the final has actually been played. He’s basically admitting that just being in a final is enough to satisfy him. The actual outcome of the match isn’t important.

That’s why we’ve lost 8 FA Cup semis in a row. The top man isn’t focused on winning so of course that filters down through the whole club. Losing is normalised.

Point remains that whilst it was a daft thing for Levy to do, even opening up the possibility it would effect the players, I’d have hoped for more mental strength from a World Cup winning player than to be effected by an engraving on a fucking watch.
