Hull City midfielder Jake Livermore has tested positive for cocaine and will not play again for Hull City this season.

Livermore, who has made one appearance for England, failed a random drug test after Hull’s 2-0 win over Crystal Palace last month.

The club are expected to release a statement this afternoon, but it is a massive blow to manager Steve Bruce, whose side are desperately trying to avoid relegation.

Livermore, who came through Tottenham Hotspur’s Academy, was superb for Hull last season as they managed to stay in the top flight and also reach the FA Cup final.

Jake Livermore has made 35 appearances for Hull this season

But his form has dipped this term along with the rest of the Hull side, although he has still made 35 appearances for the club.

His one international appearance came in 2012, when he came on as a second-half substitute in a friendly victory over Italy.

More to follow...

What a fucking idiot.

I know he's not the first and definitely not the only one doing it, but to work as hard as you have to, to reach the stage where you're a starting Premier League player and all the riches/glory that comes with that, and to potentially chuck that away for a fucking sniff or two.

That's a bit of a blow.

Don't suppose he'll line up against us then.

He's definitely for the chop.

He'd better dust off his other skills.

Powder he think he'd get away with it?

Who nose what he was thinking?

Snow idea when he'll play again.

Etc.

And here comes the over-reaction brigade to condemn someone doing a drug.

Yea, it's silly to jeopardise shit in football for gear but realism please before people start throwing him off the cliff.

It's not just someone though, is it?

I don't give a monkeys if you or Joe Bloggs fancy a sniff, but it's not an overreaction to deride those in such a specialist career which takes years and years of hard work, skill and a bit of luck to become a top professional in.

It's their life, they can do what they want. Don't need our judgement. It's a profession and it's really not a big deal.

So's women's basketball.
Which is a big deal to female basketball players.

No idea how you can say that a famous footballer breaking the law by testing positive for coke isn't a big deal.

And saying he's a fucking idiot for doing it is hardly far from the mark. I took plenty of coke in the past. Guess what? I was a fucking idiot who deserved all the judgement of others that came to me. So does Livermore.

Pfffft...whatever. If he was binging in the corner nattering on about the illuminati being after him maybe. If he has a problem, he needs help, not judgement. If he hasn't got a problem it's just a rich kid doing what most do. People love to blow this shit out of proportion. You obviously feel different. Your perogative.
