Manager Igor Tudor

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Horncastle knows his stuff on Italian football. Not much here but if he shares his wisdom in the next few days it is worth a listen.

Analysis by James Horncastle

Igor Tudor has considerable experience as an interim. He came in at Lazio in March 2024 and qualified for the Europa League. He then replaced Thiago Motta at Juventus last spring and ensured they didn’t miss out on the Champions League.

Juventus kept him on as they underwent structural changes within the club. Damien Comolli, formerly of Tottenham, moved from general manager to chief executive at Juventus and then appointed a new executive team. Tudor was sacked in October. He remained on their books until a contract resolution freed him to pursue other opportunities in the New Year.

Tudor worked with Tottenham’s old co-sporting director Fabio Paratici while assistant to Andrea Pirlo at Juventus in the 2020-21 season. He knows Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur from that time. He also worked with Randal Kolo Muani last season. Tudor will bring discipline to Tottenham.

It remains to be seen how this squad fits the 3-4-2-1 he has tended to play since deploying that system at Hellas Verona where he first stood out as a coach.
Feels.... fairly good.

Sure. But he already has a large amount of PL experience, and, specifically managing these dicey situations too, unlike Tudor. That is a big difference straight off the bat.

If Tudor doesn't hit the ground running post Woolwich, it's going to get spicy very fast!
After watching this season, pl experience isnt something I really care about.

I’m going to put money on him being here next season unless they can persuade Poch or have him already lined up.
Nah unless he does really well then no chance. Poch back is the plan obviously.

Also all my money is on this appointment being a disaster and it to have a toxic conclusion before the season ends. Mason will get the last 3 or 4 games yet. It stinks of Stellini this!

If this is purely an interim role and no long-term aspirations, I'm not sure how much better we could have done.

This is an actual football coach who has some philosophy, a basic system and demands effort. I thought we were getting Mason and Heitigna.

The options are never great in a relegation fight in February. The top managers, even ones available, aren't taking that gig.

Who succeeded the Tudors?

The circus continues.

Paratici walked out of spurs because he wanted Frank sacked and Tudor as interim was his suggestion. 2/3 months later we finally do what Paratici recommended. This just more evidence that Vinai and Lange have no idea what they are doing.

What do I expect? I know very little about this man but the whole thing stinks of a stellini vibe. I'd have much preferred a redknapp/keane/sherwood/Mason setup yo just get the feel good vibe back..I imagine this appointment will just end very toxic.
Stellini wasn't even a real manager. His only experience was managing a Serie C side for like 5 minutes before he got sacked.

Nothing will ever be that bad...surely. That Newcastle first half was the worst thing I've ever seen from a Spurs side.

Tudor's an actual proper manager at the very least.

To be fair, Stellini had managed a total of 16 games winning just 3 of them at a team who play in the 5th tier of Italian football when he was put in charge... Tudor has coached 341 games winning 156 of them... they are not even in the same universe.
