Management In search of Mourinho's successor.

Why? For your own comfort?

If we wait too long, and he takes a Villa job. Then he becomes ridiculously expensive to buy out. It’s the same warped logic that says “I’d rather wait for a Grealish, Maddison etc to prove themselves in the prem” before buying them, guess what, they are too pricey now!
I don't think this is an appropriate analogy though.
With Grealish and Maddison you could watch them closely in matches and get a clear idea of their strengths and weaknesses.

With managers, it's harder to differentiate the best from the rest.
Firstly it's hard to tell to what extent good results are due to a quality squad, and how much credit the manager should get.
What you're saying with Potter is even more uncertain; I think most would agree that Brighton's league table position of 16th is reflective of the quality of their players.
But you're saying that their football has been better than their league table position suggests, which is fair enough; but a slightly risky assumption. Maybe their patterns of play dominates the game but doesn't create easy chances for their forwards?

POTTER POTTER POTTER.

I really want him to get the job.

Spurs fans have an unhealthy obsession with big or Marquee names, we always do better with more obscure choices!
I like Potter, think he can do a really good job for us.

I would add Rangnick to the list as well, importantly because he could step up to be a sporting director after he has laid the foundations.

To summarise:

1. Nagelsmann ✅ First choice, but would potentially choose Bayern
2. Brendan Rodgers ✅ But has contract with Leicester
3. Ten Hag ✅ But concerns over Eredevise to PL transition
4. Allegri ✅ But concerns over grasp of English, and he is in high demand.
5. Potter ✅ Hierarchy believe he could cope with the step-up

Sarri ❌
Marcelino ❌
Howe ❌
Southgate ❌
1, 2 and 3 is my list in that exact order

Happy if those are really the names we're going after, was a bit concerned with links to Howe , Southgate and Marcelino

Ten Hag for me. Has been a success at Ajax. Plays good 'attractive' football. Plied his trade at a great club with football philosophy. Speaks English. Wouldn't be expensive (I don't think so anyway - into last year of his contract). And he's bald.
