Management In search of Mourinho's successor.

TBF. Sarri has a clear plan for how he wants to play football. The question is if he would be given the time to implement it or not.

But I am leaning more towards a younger, fresh name that is out to prove themselves. Or someone like Jardim who wants to "redeem" themselves.

Sarri has a very defined way of playing, that's true. Not sure it will work with us, as he, as you say, will need time to perfect it. He is a bit of a weirdo too, but he brings back sexy football and makes us competitive maybe. He wouldn't be my first choice..

He wasn't given the time at either Chelsea or Juve, which of course doesn't paint him in the best of lights. But his Napoli side was very fun to watch and I think that we have some players in our squad who would suit his style well, whilst some would obviously have to be moved on.

Then you have names like Potter who are more tactically flexible with their system. But who are getting a lot of praise for their approach to management that would be interesting to bring on.

There definitely are names out there that could work. But the fanbase is very splintered in what it wants depending on if we are still looking at winning now or rebuilding over a year or two before we have another serious go.

What’s this got to do with his actual ability?

Do Brighton create chances? Yes

Do Brighton prevent chances? yes

Are they generally good to watch? Yes

Is he going to continue to improve? Most likely, yes.

Why are Bayern going for Nagelsmann, who has won nothing instead of Jose?
No idea about Bayern as I don’t follow the BL but enjoyed last nights game

I said that I do like Potter but maybe not yet and you never answered my question as to if he’s ever finished in the top half so I’m guessing it’s no

I’m fed up with playing pretty football and winning fuck all and I was hoping that would change under Jose
We’re playing hoof ball now and still unlikely to win anything

We do need a rebuild tho. Maybe not a full on rip everything out and build from scratch one. But we do need one. 90% of most player threads have been people bitching about how bad some players are and it has been that way for years, even before Jose.

Jose has just made it more obvious that the lifespan of this team has been passed and we need to reboot.
Some might argue that a rebuild was exactly what he’s been brought in to do but I think Levy was hoping that he’d win things on the way which could still happen
Sooner he stayed rather than a manager like Nuno coming in
Total knee jerk

This craving for Potter is bewildering.

It's almost like our own fans are more comfortable with us being a mid table development / feeder club like Sothampton than the top club challenging for major titles.
Same thing would happen with Nuno

Sooner have Scotty because he’s Spurs and ambitious albeit inexperienced

Clearly I like Mourinho and think the players that let him down also let Poch down and will let the next managers down unless they go

If Nagelsmann is unavailable Conte would be a perfect fit for us squad wise
No I couldn’t stand wiggy Conte running up and down the touchline screaming and shouting and gesticulating
Really was annoying at the Chavs and didn’t Poch actually threaten him for doing that once
Jose also called him an idiot at the time

Not for me

Perhaps Levy should take a punt on someone like myself, after all I KNEW JM would make a pig's ear of this, I KNEW Bale was a busted flush (has been for 3 years or more), I KNEW Poch deserved more time and yet he ignored my subliminal protestations and went ahead with running the Club as he always does, regardless.

In my more humble moments I might be prepared to concede that (maybe, just maybe) a closer truth to the above is I simply THOUGHT it all and by some cruel twist of fate it has happened?

Lbf, employing a serial winner and bringing a world class player on loan does (on the face of it) appear to be fairly insured against failure. It need not have happened overnight, the incumbent had to be given at least a full season and an opportunity to bring in some of his chosen one's to help deliver his philosophy of football.

Fast forward to now and we are fast approaching the time when the Jury will have to get their 'arris's back in and deliberate.

Let's hope I'm wrong but when the season closes we will look back on a project that has been an absolute shitfest of a disaster....I cannot remember a time when the gap between expectation and what actually panned out has been so astronomical.

Nothing Levy ever does surprises me, sometimes I agree with him sometimes not.....if news broke that he fully intended to honour the current manager's contract I would be mortified but not surprised.

My one wish (if we replace) is that, regardless of track record the incoming is a good fit for our Club but also has good communication skills, the propensity to kick 'arris and the cojones big enough to stand up to the owners.......applications will be accepted on the back of a cigarette packet.

The Nagelsmann or no one stance is a trap that I think a lot of the fanbase walked into.

People interpreted the reports that the club liked Nagelsmann and him speaking well about us as proof that he was coming. A lot of people jumped the gun. And now any manager that does come in that is not named Nagelsmann is going to be fighting a uphill battle because people were so certain that he was coming.

In reality it probably wasn't anything more than the club liking his work and Nagelsmann saying some nice things about us before his Leipzig career really took off.

Obviously doesn't rule him working for us some time in the future out. But I think people saw things they liked and put it all together in their heads here.

We ain’t winning sod all important till we have a plan. Levy goes from manager to manager who all have different styles, our player recruiting also looks hap hazard. We need to get a top DoF who hires managers and looks after recruitment with a clear vision of where we are going.

Levy has done great on the stadium and finances but he ain’t a football man, he wasn’t a player or coach and I just feel the structure of the club is not built for success on the pitch.

I think that’s partially the answer in getting an experienced DOF that Levy can work with but you’re right as far as the football side goes Levy doesn’t have a clue any more than Alan Sugar did!
We don’t half pick em!

I think we have a plan. I don’t think it’s showing any outward signs of working, but I think it’s there all the same.

We always give Levy shit for not shifting deadwood. But have we really had any as far as the manager is concerned? Levy’s job is a piece of piss if he doesn’t have someone at him all the time to shift the dross. Maybe he’s more likely to listen to his hero and passion project?

Levy and Mourinho are the only two guys that know what’s going on. Not the athletic, not sky sports news, not Roy Keane, not you or I. If Levy really was the type of guy to react to fans getting angry on a forum, Jose would be gone. There’ll be a time when Jose does go, but I don’t think for a moment we are anywhere near that time yet.

This time next year maybe?

Literally ANYONE we get in will be better than Jose so not sure why people are down on some of the names listed.

Sure Santo and Potter are lower/midtable unproven managers but my nan could do a better job than THE DINOSAUR so what is there to be afraid of?

Poch loved shite like Winks and Dele that's why they kicked up a stink when he left.

So if he becomes unavailable we stick with Jose for another season?
Another season with Jose
