Vicario hasn't been called up I think. Actually, he has been called up. I just checked it out. He's the second or third option within the Italian squad. Tonali is the only player I recognize from the Premier League that is in the Italian line up. It's already a must-win game for Italy. Italians tend to thrive in such games/situations when it comes to their national team. Start slow and need high-pressure to perform well. Gattuso is the new Italian coach/manager. That's a huge deal for him.

ps Estonia is in NATO.

Randal Kolo Muani not called up by France. He will probably be dying to change that in time for the World Cup. Looks like Liverpool's Ekitike took his spot. My sense of Muani is that he is a better natural goal-scorer than Ekitike but that Ekitike has better physical attributes in terms of speed & height. Muani also probably has better technique. Marcus Thuram was given the Number 9 shirt. Plays in Italy. Has started hot with 2 goals + 1 assist in 2 games. Ekitike has the same record but in 3 games.

I don't know anything about Thuram. Ekitike I'd describe as not a natural Number 9. He's a fast, tall player that might need space. Randal Kolo Muani I would describe as a quick-thinking and quick-acting, natural Number 9 that feeds off of all sorts of situations in and around the box. Like a pure striker.

Thanks for that.

Italy has started very well. But their keeper has already, though very slightly, appeared like he panicked a bit. Like he overreacted which was a consequence of being too passive or relaxed. It wasn't a big deal but it could've been. IDK if Vicario is on the bench. Donnarumma is the first Italian keeper.

Tonali is bossing the Italian midfield. Much more than he does for Newcastle.

The front 3 Italian players (strikers) appear to have a problem. None of the dropping off. They either don't know what to do or all 3 are too excited.

Gattuso appears to be playing 3 2 4 1 when going forward or attacking. And then 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1 when defending. He's probably been trying to engrain that stuff into his players so that they're all a bit unsure. They're learning as they go. Taller defenders going forward when there are free kicks, and then switching back when possession-based football is played.

Estonia has settled into the game and has created the best chances/space up front. Vicario might be called upon if not in this game then in another. Tonali looks lost in defensive formations. Like there's confusion about who does what.

Referee appears to heavily favour the Italians while the Italians are already rather desperately faking fouls and penalties. The Italian keeper appears to have more strongly lost his head on a second occasion that I've noticed.

Scotland /Denmark has been a brutal watch so far. Technique and flair wise, both countries are awful. It's like watching 2 mid table Championship sides.

Compared to Italians, Estonians are playing a much more modern football. 4 3 3. And then they keep greater cohesion when boxed in. And are trying to spread the ball nicely around the pitch. Even doing some high pressing. Their manager/coach, J. Henn, achieved strong success in the domestic, Estonian league. Could be a solid young football manager that ventured early into international football.

Italians have been losing their heads rather uncharacteristically. The match is even quite comedic at times. Estonians appear to have a very young team and playing 4 3 3 dropping to 5 2 3 when defending deep. Something like that. When under pressure they go to 5 2 3 while keeping high cohesion.
