He's definitely a talker....
And I'm sure we won't get to hear all the juicy behind the scenes gossip until AFTER he or Ange (or both) have left the club...

I just wish he'd consistently play as good a game as he talks!

I'm getting future TV pundit vibes off him already!!! (IF he doesn't go into management!!)

I reckon him & Jack Grealish could be the new Saint & Greavsie....

Think Grealish is doing a podcast with Danny Rose.

Jack and Danny.

When it's announced next Tuesday that Ange is sacked, I'll be checking on Madders social media to see what he has to say about it if anything.

Bit odd he mentioned Archie and Lucas by name. The fans love them for the effort they put in.

Ironically pound for pound ego and shit talk Maddison and Postecoglou are cut from the exact same crappy cloth. He's no Floria Wirtz and his coach is no David Moyes

Outwardly Maddison has pretty much always been very positive about Ange. Who knows behind closed doors.

I don’t really care. Let’s just see peak Maddison tonight. Romero is back and Porro likely in the team, make those runs beyond Solanke that only Romero and Porro can find, then finish it and get us started early…

Then just get on the ball in every phase of the game and run the fucking show. They have nobody physically dominant enough to keep up with him in MF without leaving huge spaces.

The match in question came in the 2018-2019 season, the same campaign that ended with Liverpool's triumph over Spurs in Madrid. In just about any other year, Klopp would have done a remarkable double, having also led his side to 97 points in the Premier League.

But that did not prove to be enough, thanks to the relentless form of Pep Guardiola's Manchester City team. A matter of millimeters denied Klopp not only the title, but also the second ever Invincible season.

However, it isn't that infamous John Stones clearance that sticks in the craw for Klopp (or at least, that's not the one he publicly referenced last year). Instead, the former Liverpool boss bears a grudge against James Maddison.

Representing Leicester City in that season, Maddison was on the pitch when Vincent Kompany scored that improbable long-range goal, which maintained Man City's faultless run-in. And Klopp felt the playmaker could have done more out of possession.

"The moment when Vincent Kompany touched the ball there, I am really happy I didn't get a stroke in that moment as that's how it must feel," Klopp told The Redmen TV last year. "I remember exactly how I was lying on the sofa watching and thinking 'Maddison block him, close him down'.

"Since then I don't like Maddison," Klopp remarked. "It's just a personal thing, I have no problem with him, but when I see him it's..." While this was no doubt a light-hearted remark, it's notable how clearly the moment sticks in Klopp's mind. There is surely a grain of truth in his dislike for Maddison.

The former Liverpool boss also admitted to being annoyed at Brendan Rodgers, the Leicester manager that day. Klopp felt Maddison should already have been substituted, having shown signs of fatigue.

Yet these were the margins in such an extraordinarily high-quality season.

Oddly this endears me to Maddison.

I’ve always thought he is handmade for more free flowing leagues like Bundesliga and Eredivisie. Less physicality to endure, and more room between the lines to operate. He doesn’t suck at EPL obviously, but all those complaints about his fairweather nature wouldn’t have seen the light of day if he was playing in these leagues. It’s obviously a miniscule sample size to reflect on, but he was dominant against Hoffenheim too. Just like the second half of this match.

He is not a floor raiser type player that'll lift the team off the ground in the face of adversity all by himself, but considering how bereft we're of creativity in midfield he doesn't need to be to have a place in this team. If accommodating him requires switching to a double pivot and letting him roam freely as a 10 then so be it. Stop trying to shoehorn him to a CM just so you can continue playing a single pivot.

Better all round than Rooney? You’re way off there mate. Rooney was an 8/10 in most areas. Amazing passing, hold up, quick, strong, even had a good leap on him.
I meant better all around as a lone 9 in the way modern teams only play one striker. Rooney thrived in systems where there were two strikers and he could be the deeper lying one. Yes rooney is a much better footballer.

Sheringham is a much better footballer than Solanke, but he didn’t play in a modern lone striker system, think he’d really struggle playing as a lone 9 in modern times, especially us.

Think Solanke was really poor tonight, 2 assists to his name but was poor in a lot of other areas. He ran around a lot so passmarks all round on here I guess.
