Player Jamie Donley

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I said at the time why we sending out our best young players who in some cases are older than gray and berg. We should have kept donley and Devine who are no way any worse than players like Werner, Sarr or even gray on CM. Soon as you see Alfie play you his a proper footballer can pass the ball sweaty. Donley has a great left foot. I’m sure they could have played in games like Tamworth or Coventry plus most of the EL games. We are told its project youth and that is why Ange is here. From the evidence it’s only project youth if we go out and buy young players whilst completely ignoring the young players we have here already. Ange ain’t no promoter of academy players.

But that is not the case really. Is it?

Ange does not play youngsters if even remotely possible.
Just look at Dorrington, Oulesi and Lankshear minutes this season.

He does play Gray and Bergvall, but one cost 40 mil and other was promised first team involvement + there is injury chaos that forces his hands. But still decides to play Solanke for 82 minutes even while being 5:0 ahead of Southampton and keeps Kulu on for full 90 minutes, rather than give Oulesi 20 minutes of EPL experience. Not to mention Tramworth game ...

Agree.

Moore is the only one he's given first senior minutes too and that's because he's hyped up as generational and the club have obviously told Ange he needs to play.

Gray and Bergvall both had plenty of senior minutes before joining.

Ange has literally said things like "I have 13 fit players" while naming 18 man squads.

You can't tell me there's not a single academy player who could have done a job for a few minutes here and there during this injury crisis. If there really isn't, then that is a damning indictment of the state of our academy.

I think it's more likely Ange is not playing them out of principle.

Yep.

And look, I am not even saying that Dorrington or Lankshear or whoever else would have set the world on fire.
Very likely not!

But it would give me reason to watch this kind of dross like what we saw vs Tramworth, if I knew that some young lads are getting their baptisms of fire in this one. Where they absolutely could fuck up, but then again, might also do decent job.
Heck - most academy kids will not make it to starters for us. Maybe he gets to fulfill his childhood dream, gets some exposure to high level football and we might sell him in the future to generate money to reinvest into other players.

Cannot repeat enough - I never complained when we lost to Galatasaray, even though it was not very enjoyable watching. I at least understood what we were going for there. Recently I've got no clue anymore. Seems like last twitches of muscles of dying deer after being hit by a truck.

I agree that is what I am saying essentially. He only plays gray and bcos we actually paid good money for them so he really has no choice. However as for the academy players he has binned them off. The treatment of players like Lankshear is not good. We send out dorrington when we are short of CBs. The fact he doesn’t want any of the loanees back also says a lot. He then says we are short of numbers. I’d expect Dane to be on the bench tmrw. Not sure if he could have been on the bench last Sunday.

He could start at AM or RW in the EL. We have Reguilon at backup LB anyway so I wouldn't anticipate Donley being used there.
We have reg but as you saw last Sunday Ange would still flog gray at LB than play reg. even though he knows reg can’t play Thursday. Absolute shocking decision making. I don’t get how he doesn’t get pulled up more for this especially when levy said hiring Ange was would help bring through the academy players. All his done is dumped most.

👍 his a dick. I said before most will will shipped out. His only really interested in buying players not promoting and working with academy. He doesn’t coach so that kind of explains it. It’s not his thing. In a way it’s like conte he only wants ready made players ideally.

You conveniently forgot Mikey Moore who is going to start for us tonight and has more appearances this season at 17 than any other 17 year old in the PL.

You basically wrote loads of words and mental gymnastics but when I ran it through the Waffle Translater it just said:

"Ange plays young players when they are good enough and ready to contribute at this level."

If they aren't he puts their development first and sends them out on loan. Lankshear was somewhere in between but he;s clocked that he's not ready and the chaos of our injury crisis is something he wants to shield him from.

It is but it's more of an indictment of our team and our current form, expecting an academy player to step up into a team with no confidence or no energy and no cohesion...I mean what is that actually going to prove, how do we expect those players to help the team and improve things?

Not many of these players can cut it at this level anyway and you're asking them to step into this team in it'd current plight? It's not realistic.

Waffle translator says - yesterdays game might have shut your piehole ;) .

"if they aren't he puts them on loan" - just to see Scarlett come on and score the first goal and assisting 2nd... after coming back from loan. Then Ajayi scored 2nd even though we did not see him for example in Tramworth match...

So yea, I stand by what I said - there have been moments when some youngsters should have given more playingtime under circumstances. Maybe not in perfect situation, but surely we could have spared few senior players among injury crises and given youngsters bit more time ;)

You complain Ange doesn’t give youth a chance and then use a game where he gives them a chance as evidence?

You talk shit mate.

Ange ended Scarlett’s unsuccessful loan at Oxford bloody United to give him a chance at Spurs playing in Europe.

Just go away with your inane ramblings.

You just knew that some clowns are gonna use this game against fucking Elfsborg to say that those same players could have played in the Premier League 😆

To be honest I am ok with Ange and the youth. There is some good criticisms of him such as his tactical inflexibility in a lot of game which is annoying as he has shown against City he can be flexible when he wants to be and this might get him sacked come now or summer.

However the youth for me is good. Where players he feels are ready like Gray, Bergvall, Moore he has played them. Where he feels they aren’t ready like Dorrington, Donley, Lankshear he has sent them on loan to toughen up and get experience and where loans have failed like Scarlett he has brought them back.

If Ange goes and that is a real possibility his legacy will probably be the young players. Next season Donley might be back after growing into a top player and be very beneficial to us, Moore will be better. The young players and their growth is the only positive at this moment at the club.

Devine, Phillips & Vuskovic also to be pondered.
